I’m not as organised as that. I just wait until they die. The audible low battery warning gives me at least 30 minutes before they die. I carry spare batteries in my wallet which is always with me when I’m out and about.
Hahaha…
It is not being organised, it has just become a habit.
Under my HA case I have a piece of paper that has 7 days: AM / Sun, Thurs, Mon, Fri, Tues, Sat, Wed. So, when I am getting ready to put them in I look at the paper and if the day is on it, I change the batteries
I have the Phonak Paradise 90R hearings aids. I wear them at least 12 hours/day and the battery charge is still good when I put them in the charger. They say a full charge is good for 24 hours. You can do a quick charge for 15 minutes and get 6 hours of battery time.
I was also concerned about batteries losing charge.
So,I bought the Phonak battery charger power pack that used in conjunction with the Phonak Charging Case, allows for up to 7 days of on the go battery charging. No need to plug into an outlet, using the power pack connected to the charging case you can charge your hearing aids anywhere. Plugs directly into the bottom of the Phonak Charging Case.
I am really pleased with the Phonak Paradise hearing aids and with the rechargeable feature
@medic550: First and foremost - Thank You for Your Service!
I’m retired now, so perhaps I shouldn’t be posting here, at all. I’m delighted with what my new Oticon More3s are doing to help me live with my hearing loss, but I wasn’t thrilled with being forced into rechargeables.
I solved my apprehension about plugging into the mains (which may fail several times a year where I live) by using an external battery to power the charger.
The battery gives me more than a week of charges, and the whole getup is quite compact.
I wear my devices from 05:30h to 23:00h, every day, and they have never shown less than a 35% charge remaining at the end of the day.
I’m a fly fisherman, when my chronic pain permits me sufficient mobility to practice the art. I occasionally get caught in a cloudburst, far from my van. Being an old codger suffering from Drying Brain, I sometimes forget to take my aids out before I hop into the shower, also.
The rechargeable devices are much more forgiving of such situations than battery devices, I understand.
I go snowshoeing, too, and have had disposable 312s crap out on me in the field. It’s hard for me to change the battery and restore hearing with half-frozen fingers. The devices are also subject to loss, under those conditions
No such worries with the More3 rechargeables.
After a couple of weeks living with rechargeable hearing aids, I don’t think I would go back to disposable batteries, frankly.
Perhaps your audiologist could let you try rechargeable hearing aids for long enough for you to judge whether you can adapt comfortably?
You are already aware of the hypothetical puts and takes of rechargeable hearing aids, as was I. But it took an actual, real-world trial to convince me.
Good luck, and thanks for all that you do for us!
I am going to be using the thinklabs with a roger mic as seen in photo. Phonak released a paper and youtube video on medical professionals requiring use of stethoscope.
Excellent.
With my recent SSNHL my hearing is asymmetric. Thinklabs one is awesome. Standard headphones make my auscultation adequate, but monaural. It’s more pleasing to use both sides of your head.
Just ordered a Select!
I’m wearing the Paradise p-90 rechargeable. I get 17 to 18 hours on a charge and that is with almost constant Bluetooth streaming. I work 12 hour shifts and several times a month 17 hours I just not enough so I purchased a second charger on eBay to keep at work. I’ll pop them in the charger for half an hour during lunch and can easily make it to 20 hours or so.
I am using the P70R average a bit over 13 hours a day and typically have 25-40 % left at the end of the day. This is with a small amount of streaming a day, an hour or so.
I did an online conference a few weekends ago. A couple of days, 6 hours of streaming ran the aids down to about 15% after 8 or 9 hours, 30 minutes of recharge have me plenty of charge for the evening.
Jim
Streaming is the main decision point IMO.
Classic BT (with phones or computers) will eat roughly 10% per hour of streaming.
Tv connector/roger mic will use 3 times less, so 10% in 3 hours.
I don’t have number for regular usage (that depends on environment as well, like more drain in noisy environments and if you increase amplification), but extrapolating from guaranteed 16h of usage that phonak advertises (with 8h of normal use, 4h BT streaming and 4h of TV connector), plus that such numbers should live by 3rd year of the devices, I’d say normal use is like 50% in 8h. Or even better ratio. So, you can probably count with 5% per hour as a decent rough estimate. That would give you 20h of regular usage time as a expected minimum.
So, @medic550 do the math based on your needs.
I decided I don’t want to do the math every day with rechargeables, and thinking when t recharge them if I have heavy day. So I went with 13T.
No charger can beat 30 second battery swap
I think someone said that each chime is 30 min apart (speaking of paradises), and if I remember correctly they do whine several times before they die on me. Granted, much faster during the active classic BT streaming. So it’s definitely not 30 min, but it’s also not just once. I always forget to count the chimes, I just wait until they die and then swap
Taking very lazy approach.
me too!! can not wait and try the new paradise. I am going to use the batteries too!!
So what is the current myPhonak app offered for the Phonal Paradise line? I’m a little confused. Is it 4.0 or 5.0? And Phonak claims a “new app” is coming out this Spring (now) that will correct glitch that wipes out custom programs, once programmed into software. Will this new app be 5.0 or 6.0 and if not available now - then when?
Hopefully an upgrade will be provided this month or next but when it does happen can you just download “new” myPhonak app through cell phone or does an Audi have to be involved to upgrade.
Current version is 4.0.2. The new app, rumoured to be fix the problem with custom programs is supposed to be 5.0. Not sure when it will be available.
Updates to the app are through your phone so no need to see the Audi.
Jim
Also, same app works for both marvels and paradises, same.
Will 5.0 fix the issue only on par aids or also on mar aids, no clue.
Here’s a link to info on version 5.0 of the app: https://www.phonakpro.com/content/dam/celum/user_guide_myphonak_5-0/PH_User_guide_myPhonak_5.0_EN_V1.00_10.pdf
I like using the p90r, ease of bluetooth is good.
But I have an active life and frequently have the phone assistant activated by head movements, glasses adjustments, masks, etc.
I recently purchased the Phonak Audéo Paradise P90 with the 312 battery. I am really struggling trying to hear people on our landline phone at work. I don’t need to block surrounding noise but I do need something to help me boost the volume & speech recognition as my landline phone is at the highest volume. My Audi suggested I try the Paradise with the 13T battery since that version has the Telecoil. Does anyone have any experience using a landline phone with the Phonak Audéo Paradise size 13 batteries with Telecoil and a magnet?
Also, is there a way to see how much battery life is left for the size 312 and 13 battery versions in the Phonak app? I know it shows the battery life for the Rechargeables under Remote Control but I haven’t been able to find it for my 312 batteries. Thanks!
Hi @eddiesmama, something like the link below may assist you to hear much better on a works landline…. Good luck, cheers Kev

I don’t have the Paradise hearing aids, I have Oticon hearing aids but I do use the telecoil program on my landline phone. I couldn’t use my landline phone (at work) without telecoil.
Telecoil is one option and works well in most cases. If the magnet doesn’t nt work you can have your audi set it up as a manual program.
There also is a phone program available that will take the phone output and feed it to both aids.
Jim
Thanks, Jim. I looked up the landline telephone info. and it doesn’t say it is compatible with telecoil. Will the magnet option on the receiver still work if just my hearing aids have the telecoil?
My Audi programmed the Acoustic Telephone program but there is a lot of background noise since the volume is set much higher. I don’t use the telephone all the time so I would need to keep going back & forth between the AutoSense and that.
What is the name of the phone program that will feed it to both aids? I will definitely try that. Thanks!
