Oticon MORE firmware 1.4.0 - BT issues with iOS 16

Yes, the firmware is 1.4.1

But what problem are you having with 1.4.1? I thought the issues were fixed (as long as the install worked).

@Kem103 please explain the problem you are having
Maybe someone can help

I have had the problem with random restarts about 3 times in a month. This is the reply from oticron 12-23-2022 . Hi John,

thank you for your patience.

It does seem that your hearing aids crushed once.

We have had some similar reports from other users on firmware 1.4.1.

We have identified the root cause of these streaming dropouts / disconnections and have a fix under way – we are working on finalizing a new firmware update, and we will let you know as soon as it is available.

At the moment, if you loose connection or streaming to one or both hearing aids, the way to get it back is to restart the affected hearing aid. You can restart your hearing aid by holding the the ā€˜down’ button on your hearing aid for 3 seconds, wait for it to turn off, and then hold the same button again for 3 seconds to turn it on again.

The disconnections can reoccur if your hearing aids and phone are out of Bluetooth range and come back into range again. If it does, you will need to restart the hearing aid again to reestablish the connection and streaming.

Thank you for your patience, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Katarina

That’s odd. The firmware 1.4.0 was doing the same!

My More1 aids are at firmware 1.4 not 1.4.0 or 1.4.1. I received it Wednesday at the VA clinic, I am not having any issues with connectivity, reboots etc. My audiologist said this is a firmware version that the VA has approved. Not sure if this is what Oticon is going to release, the only issue I saw was the app dropping connection when I use the TV Adapter. For me an easy fix, I deleted the app

Firmware 1.4.0 BT was dropping out all the time . 1.4.1
Did fix that problem for me . The new problem I started having is hearing aids would restart on their own .

Do you have any idea why the VA would be behind in firmware updates, besides the fact that it’s the government?

The new firmware isn’t stable….

From what I can determine the VA isn’t behind. The firmware I have isn’t reacting like the two releases that everyone on here and the Facebook page discribe. I haven’t had any issues except the app issue which I don’t use. And my firmware is 1.4 not 1.4.0 or 1.4.1.

Do you have any other device connected to your HA? I notice those random restart when I forget to turn off bluetooth from my iPad. In that case the HAs have two active bluetooth connection to handle. My audi told me Oticon does not recommend to have two active connections.

I now wear Mores but had those constant random restart with my OPNs as well. I always thought that was something like Windows crashing from time to time and rebooting.

I have my aids paired to my iPad and iPhone but I keep the Bluetooth disabled on the iPad unless I am streaming from the iPad.

No I don’t . My pc and other iPhone have Bluetooth disabled. I’m guessing that oticron gets reports from the app if you have feed back set to on . From the serial numbers they told me that they can see the problem .

That is news to me that the app does a anything useful

I agree . I use my iPhone for almost all of my adjustments . I have the app settings to run in the background. Who ever I email is not in US, it takes them about 12 hours to get back to me.

I have never gotten any responses other than contact your audiologist, now my case is different than most my aids come from the VA. And to be honest the rules are different for example me and my aids. The VA clinics have to send the rechargeable aids back to Oticon for battery changes. The VA only get updates to firmware that adds any feature changes or updates with new contracts. When new models of aids come out th VA don’t get them until the next contract.

I’m going to do this too

I have had 1.4.1 since 11/18/22 and has been solid. I went ahead and installed iOS 16.2 12/13/22 and it has been stable also. Very interesting that there is a 1.4 and 1.4.1 in the wild at the same time. I will call my audiologist nest Tuesday and ask what firmware shows on her system. Have a Merry Christmas.
PS - Do you think the build age of our More aids might matter? My right aid is Serial #65372XXX and my Left is #65369XXX.

I believe that the 1.4 is something that Oticon and the VA has come up with, only. It is very stable with both my iPad and iPhone that are running IOS16.2. I have been doing a lot of streaming of audio books, sometimes as much as 2 hours non stop with no issues, the hands free works good, and I haven’t had any reboots. I haven’t even had issues with the connectivity if I forget and have both my iPhone and iPad with the Bluetooth enabled at the sametime. I don’t advice it, it drains the aids batteries more and can cause confusion. I would not expect that this version will be available to the public. My thought is this is maybe 1.4.2 or later that should be released soon, I did volunteer to beta test if needed

It would be interesting if you would report what firmware level the Oticon ON app reports for you aids as currently configured. I realize that you don’t typically use the ON app but I don’t know of another way for a typical More aid user to find the firmware version in their aids. Those with a Noahlink wireless can use the Genie fitting software.

I’ve had the following firmware for my More 1 aids (first fitted on 6 September 2022):

1.3.0 as delivered new
1.4.0 first update by audiologist
1.4.1 second update by audiologist on 23 Nov 2022

In each case, Genie (latest version at the time) and the ON app reported exactly the same firmware level (3 digits separated by 2 periods).

I’m using an iPhone 12 mini and an iPad Pro 12.9" (4th generation) with the aids. I’ve updated the iPhone/iPad when Apple released OS updates so they are currently at 16.2. The More 1 aids with 1.4.1 are much better for me with my devices than 1.4.0 (fewer disconnects, phone call/streaming audio in one aid only, etc). I only connect to either the phone or pad - I turn off bluetooth for the device not in use to prevent any contention that has been a common issue with both my previous OPN S 1 and current More 1 aids.
