Science researcher working in academia (precision measurements of light and diffuse reflectance, mostly for optical instrument calibration).  Age 73 with hearing loss, probably a combination of age, genetics, and loud noise exposure when young (military search and rescue helicopter pilot for example).  Some interest in learning how to add/modify hearing aid programs.
