Costco Rexton Trax 42 (Product Information)

Yup, I will go with both ears also, my left ear is fine but as you say… Why

How is talking on a regular telephone? I tried BTE in Oticon a few years ago and had a terrible time with the phone. Was told to hold the receiver up in the microphone area of the aids, and that helped, but it wasn’t good enough.

They had a telecoil but that only worked on some phones. Was terrible on my cell. I switched to an ITE so I could hear on the phone.

Does the Trax 42 have a telecoil?

Trax has a T-coil as well and like everything else, will only work with some phones. Bluetooth technology can replace the T-coil…works great on all cell phones and give you stereo sound for your phone calls.

I just bought the KS 6.0 and just found out that Costco also sell the binax which is renamed to Rexton Trax 42.

Can anyone comment on how the Binax 7 compares with Costco’s KS 6.0?

Does the Binax have frequency compression and is it better than the KS 6.0?? My main goal is to hear speech well so I don’t really care about hearing other stuff.

Attached is my Audiogram

Thanks.

zero problems with any phone I’ve tried including cells and landlines. Includes Bluetooth etc

Padzy: Trax 42 will do frequency compression, don’t know if it is better than the KS6. The specs certainly are. KS6 doesn’t have T-coil. KS 6 = 17 channels, Trax42 = 42 channels. Trax might be better for you because of the adaptive microphones that the KS6 doesn’t have. I was unimpressed at the KS6 when I was looking at the Trax.

Thanks Evil Scientist

What sort of difference will 42 channels vs 17 channels make?

you could trial both and let us know…

The thing is I already purchased the KS 6.0 and using it, will costco be pissed off if I say to them in my follow up appointment that I just found out about the Rexton’s and would like that trial them?

The question is: Will you be pissed off that you blew $1800 on a product you won’t be as happy with? It’s your money, and these trial periods exist for a reason. Costco understands this is a part of doing business.

Padzy, why would Costco be annoyed if you turned a $1800 sale into a $2700 sale?

I have found my Costco rep to be very accommodating and interested in getting the best results for me. I doubt you will have a problem. You will return the existing aids, get a refund and purchase a new pair. Sometimes the refund takes a couple of days depending on how you paid for the aids. Good luck!

Just throwing this out.

I found it difficult to find info on the trax 42 but there is more info for the Siemens 7bx. They are supposedly very similar, a few different options but close.

Its more productive to search for reviews etc on the Siemens 7bx. There is a very interesting thread already on this site

For existing HA users this is probably a no-brainer but it was/is all new to me as Im a novice.

If you go to the very first post in this thread, it directs you to a datasheet and other info.

Padzy:

Costco would not be “pissed off”. You are returning a product to potentially buy a more expensive one! Also, they do have their 100 % satisfaction policy. They have to follow that. If you are on your trial period, you definitely have the right to return and try a different brand, without question or bother.

Evil.

Padzy, it seems to me like the worst thing that could happen if you were to return your KS6’s is that you would have to endure a few minutes of feeling uncomfortable while you insist on Costco honoring their agreement. Isn’t that better than years of wondering whether you could hear better than you do? My guess is that the return/exchange wouldn’t be that uncomfortable at all.
I think that most of us on this board are the fanatics who are willing to take assertive measures to maximize our hearing. I’ll bet the vast majority of Costco’s customers just buy the aid that the fitter recommends, get a couple of adjustments, and passively accept whatever outcome they get. I’ll bet most of them could achieve better hearing if they were to insist on the audi doing whatever it took to maximize their hearing. You DESERVE the best hearing you can get. Costco has to endure dealing with only a few demanding customers.

before everyone gets in a sweat… if hes under 90 days all he has to do is ask. if im the manager of the dept do i want to post an $1800 sale or a $2700 sale? even a little over im willing to bet he could upgrade.

I am a hearing aid specialist with Costco. Let me assure you that you can return your hearing aids for any reason in your first 90 days and get your money back. Do not worry about how we feel about it. It is your money, make sure you are happy.

It should never take days to refund you if you are just exchanging. Have them put the return on a Costco cash card and use that towards the new purchase.

The unpairing issue is not something I have seen in the Trax yet. I would make an appointment to have them looked at, they may need to be sent off for repair. As a dispenser the first thing I would try would be to hook both hearing aids up and reload the programming to make sure they are programmed and linked together.

Just to be clear, the trax are working much better for me now that I am using them properly. The speech in noise is much improved when used as they were designed.

Don’t anyone pass up on the trax because of my newbie experience. Doubledown got me headed the right way on the speech in noise issue. That’s why these forums are so great!!

Just understand the speech in noise is designed so that you need to directly face the speaker. Then it works great! Which is reasonable.

Im still trying to figure out why one aid will die or unpair. I can’t tell if it’s actually dead or unpaired. Resetting it always works though. Pretty sure that’s just a fluke hardware issue and once I pinpoint the problem it will be easily remedied.
