When does inserting the hearing aids become easy?

Just was fitted for my Jabra Enhanced Pro 20s on Monday. Inserting the speaker and the dome into my ear canals has been a fight. I’m having difficulty getting the speakers into my ears properly. It takes me numerous attempts to get the dome in the correct location. If I don’t get them exactly in the correct place, then they will give me audio feed back. This is especially true if I press on the part of my ear where the little flap is to press close to close off the ear canal. This is getting frustrating and cutting into my first cup of coffee time.

Try pulling the upper back of the auricle upward and backward simultaneously while inserting the receiver. That maneuver might straighten your ear canal to facilitate insertion.

It is tragus.

Thanks for the advice, I will give it a try in the morning. I didn’t know it has a name.

Something else you might try is putting just a little baby oil on the dome. Just a little.
Usually the domes get a little slick from body fluids wearing the aids. When they are brand new they can be difficult.

Clever. I personally pinch the vertical part of the receiver wire, pull it down, and push up and in to get the dome correctly into my ear canal (which, as on average, slopes up towards the top back of the head). But for a lot of patients, pinching the wire is difficult. Getting a pinky into the ear underneath and to the front of the receiver block can also work well, but many people’s pinkies are too big or cannot feel the receiver. For bendy ear canals, wrapping your other arm around your head and pulling up on your ear helps, but not everyone has that arm mobility.
