What do y’all do with your hearing aids when visiting waterparks? I’m nervous about locking them in the available lockers but also nervous about wearing them. Plus, I can’t hear squat without them! Any suggestions on waterproof cases, etc?
lock them in your car. but why not just skip waterparks. there are plenty of other fun things to do.
I used a Siemens Aquaris when learning to swim and needing to be able to understand the swim instructor. They are no longer made.
Realistically you are best to leave your good aids in the car but to enjoy the experience you will need some amplification.
There is a gap in the market for a cheap waterproof hearing aid that can be used when participating in sports or working near water. Search Aliexpress and sites like this looking for at least IP68 rating at a price that you can live with if they break.
It’s a pity we have to be defensive about where we take the aids we need so badly but go enjoy whatever activities you want to do.
Don’t leave your aids in a hot car. It could damage them. It’s not good for any electronics. However, if you have a cooler packs like the ones used for insulin or a cooler with ice packs you could be safe leaving hearing aids in the car.
Electronics are quite resilient to heat, the most sensitive part of HAs are the rechargeable batteries.
But even those can easily withstand 50 C (120 F).
I wouldn’t worry about leaving them in a hot car.
I think thats a good point but not necessary where I live.
My daughter wanted me to take her to a water park when she was little, and I also can’t hear squat without my aids. I tried keeping them in a sandwich bag while riding the slides and then putting them on afterwards to talk to her or service workers. This worked at first, but after a while water got in the bag and the aids (which were not water resistant back then) conked out. I’d imagine you could buy a better working waterproof case for this.
Hot cars can get up to 150° F.
Are you planning to put your HAs right onto the dash?
Even that temperature would be ok for a few hours, however I doubt it will ever get that high if, for example, you put them under the seat or in the glove compartment.
A well -designed waterproof case is a terrific idea. I would prefer to keep my hearing aids safe with me, not only because a hot car can be harmful, but because sometimes cars are broken into!
Excellent.
I used to canoe a lot with camera gear. Had courage back then
My concerns now are water and loss
I still build schools and water is a huge issue until the building is totally enclosed.

And that water can really do some damage!
Camera and phone and hearing aids oh my!
Things happen so fast.

A Google search for Waterproof Pouch for phone will turn up several companies, so you can carry your phone or car keys, as well as your hearing aids, on your person
Note that if using for a phone the inside of (some, at least, in my case Aquapac) the pouch is slightly sticky and can be difficult to slide the phone down the inside The solution is to put in a couple of pieces of light card and slide the phone between them, then withdraw the card before closing the pouch
As a rule of thumb, it’s better not to leave lithium-ion batteries at temperatures over 25-35°C; the lower, the better.
Not necessarily on the dash:

Get a small plastic cooler and write “Dog Poop” with permanent black marker. Nobody will touch it. I have been using this for years with my valuables.
When going to the beach, a pool, places where people spray water, get into a sweat or outside with rain expected I leave my HAs at home. Too costly, no matter their water resistance rating.
I am currently looking into that as well. Please keep me posted if you find a convincing solution.
I started this thread a few days ago: Waterproof hearing aid case
Looks like one of the sources I name has gone silent. Their website still works – somewhat, but no way to contact them, their Twitter account does not exist any more and the last entry on Facebook is from March 2024. But maybe I’m wrong.
Apart from water parks, there are simply situations where you need a safe, waterproof, crush-proof place for the aids. And these situations are not always foreseeable, at least not in my life.
A friend used a diaper bag successfully for years. Bragged about it. Then someone stole it…

Diapers are expensive!
