IIRC, Resound marketed that the most important element of a hearing aid’s AI setup is… particular user intelligence…!
I get that and agree with you. My understanding is the Phonak Sphere’s when they sense noise above a certain db automatically switches
I don’t know how far it goes back, but my paradise switch programs based on a variety of factors. A certain level of noise will put the HAs in speech in noise. Speech focus is about 2/3 of the way from “Wide” to “Narrow”. This is what the “Restaurant” manual program is from. Past another level of noise it goes to speech in loud noise. This is where my activevents close and the focus goes all the way to narrow. It changes when I get in the car. I don’t remember all the problems autosense has at its disposal but it changes based on several factors all by itself. And some people hate it.

I’m odd man out.
I wear Starkey Edge AI.
I do have to set the edge program manually for it to work. They are the different programs to choose from. Noise control is one
I really do not mind that.
As far as automatic, everyone perceives how noisy it is differently.
I guess Starkey let’s me decide.
Phonak as stated does have autosense.
It can choose for you.
Not everyone likes that.
Choose whatever works best for you.
My previous aids were Starkey/Audibel with a restaurant program.
Night and day difference between edge mode and restaurant.
I hear in restaurants I would never go to because of the nose.
I have the vivia5 and going to audiologist tomorrow. I’m contemplating exchanging the 5’s and upgrading to the 9’s for &1000. Any info or help would be great.
