Price of the new Oticon Agil Pro's

I have been wondering that as well. If the Agil is so much better than the Epoq, why are they the same price or nearly so?

epoq V is pretty much gone… Agil is the replacement of the Epoq. Registration in some countries is quite extensive, up to a year. Therefore, Epoq will still be the instrument
of choice

Take a look at the Aidright website before you buy!

Excellent advice! Aidright’s price on the Agil Pro is about $400 more than my full-service audi charges, so you know to look at their website for high prices.

I’ve just been quoted 3500 each for the Agil pros, less 10% (coupon discount). That put them at 6300. Plus 400 for the connect streamer package (phone, tv, streamer) and 225 fitting fee…am I being totally ripped off?

Here is one of the lowest prices I’ve seen LINK.

If you think what is happening worldwide- registration takes about 1yr in some countries and it is very very expensive. So for those markets, cutting pricing on Epoq does not
make sense.

“G” - I live in a very expensive part of the country, and I will be paying $7000 next Wednesday for my new pair of Oticon Agil Pro mini-RITEs. I think when you read these kinds of threads, you have to consider that someone who is living, say, in rural Pennsylvania is going to be paying a heck of a lot less than someone buying HAs from an Audiologist in New York City, for example. My husband found them much cheaper on E-bay, of course, but if I bought them off some stranger on e-bay, I’d have to find someone local to program them, service them, etc. I have a complex sensorineural hearing loss. I much prefer to have my ENT and Audiologist working together to help me through the years ahead. I’ve already spent 5 hours over the last two weeks with them, and I’m sure I’ll be seeing a lot more of them in the future. I’m willing to spend more since I feel confident with my team.

If you live in an area where expenses are low, then the amount you were quoted might be too much.

My audi quoted me $4,400 for a pair of the Agil pro’s. I will try these out along with the Phonak excelias (also $4,400) this Tues. I wasn’t a big fan of Oticon having tried the delta’s a few years back but had the Agils on in audis office for ten minutes and they sounded good there.
Of course I have to try them out in noisy environments but I have a good feeling about them. I would like to demo the Bernafont’s but the nearest Costco dealer is 4 hrs away and my audi is only a block away from work.
Thanks X-builder and all the others for their posts and comments on the Agil HA, will post review after demoing aids next week.

Too much much expensive…

I was all set to get the Epoq XWs today after spending 3 hr at the audi’s yesterday and then 8 hrs at home researching Oticon vs Phonak.

I went in today to place the order and pick my colors, and I asked a question about the Agil… Now I’m more confused than ever. The audi started talking about the new Agil processor, how it’s faster, what it’s doing with speech, etc. Yesterday, I was adamant I wanted bright colors, and the Epoq comes in red, the Agil doesn’t, but the Agil is the same price as the Epoq XW, and the Agil Pro is only $400 more for a set, so if they’re a whole lot better, then the color doesn’t matter, and I can get boring black instead.

But what is the big difference between the regular Agil and the Pro? Is it the music thing (Sound 2.0)? And can I get the mini-Rite size (the cutest) in both the Agil and the Agil Pro?

I might need a custom mold on one ear, so I’m not sure if that makes a difference with the BTE style available to me. I think my audi might do more Starkey sales than Oticon, plus the Agils are brand new, so answering my 10,000 questions about the differences might have been a little much.

If anyone can help, that would be great.

THANKS!

just doing this post so I can subscribe to the thread. Didn’t realize that NO SUBSCRIBE was the default here.

The simple is the Spacial sound 2.0 - I hear good things.

Hey - Try them both - try them all -

Try each one for a week or so. If you have the time…

Here’s a Agil / Agil pro link which describes the two. Hearing aids, information on hearing loss and tinnitus | Oticon

Anotehr informative link: Hearing aids, information on hearing loss and tinnitus | Oticon

I am trailing oticon agil(just got today)–and wonder if i would benefit more with oticon agil pro.
Any thoughts please?
A ‘quick test’ of my hearing audio gram is

hz 0250…0500…1000…2000…4000…8000
R 25 25 45 60 68 75
L 26 30 55 60 60 70

Would I benefit from oticon agil pro.

I have plus dome (I think it is what they are called!).
Just had these a few hours-and so far not as full on sound as widex mind 330 which was loud for so many sounds and made me tired! But,I was able to follow conversations.
Your opinion would be appreciated please.Thanks-

Tracey, I can’t tell you whether you would hear a subtle difference that you might or might not agree would justify the upgrade cost, which as I recall is not huge but is in the range of a few hundred dollars for both aids. I think you’d have to try the Pros to compare. Here are the feature differences according to Oticon:
http://oticon.com/Professionals/Our%20Products/HearingSolutions/Agil/product%20comparer/features.aspx

If you click the ‘i’ icons next to three of the four feature differences, Binaural Processing, Binaural Synchronization, and Spatial Noise Management, it will tell you what Oticon is trying to do with those features. There’s no ‘i’ icon for ‘My Voice,’ but for another aid, Oticon says My Voice helps the aids ‘tell the difference between when the wearer is listening or talking. My Voice stabilizes sound through the conversation in challenging environments which often causes disruptive artifacts when the client starts speaking. Changes in SN ratios during listening and talking go unnoticed to the wearer.’ (Can you notice those differences in the non-Pro Agil your trialing now? If not, maybe not so much…)

thanks for response and i had read that --but did not understand what it would mean to me.
Yes–I guess I would have to try.As hearing has such an impact on our lives/–and as I have only one type of aid for some years-all exciting using different and so far–better sounds.though I have not yet been in noisy groups and meetings.I must do so tomorrow. But,for once I could listen to music in car and enjoy instead of hearing unpleasant sounds/shrilling type sounds.Usually switch it off as annoyance!
-so if oticon agil pro maybe better for my ears–is more to look forward to–

Ordered a pair of Agil Pros yesterday for $2850 each, which included custom earmolds. From what I can tell from other posts, not a great price, no free batteries, no discount on Streamer, no free follow up visits. I asked this Audi if she had a pair i could use for a few days, or even for a few weeks till my new ones come in (lost my previous pair, going without now…), and she chuckeled and said 'We don’t do loaners". How are all you folks getting all these trial units??

Randy, that price doesn’t sound too bad, but she doesn’t sound like a very customer-friendly audiologist. Of course, if the care is optimal, maybe it’s worth a little extra money and snippiness, but assuming you weren’t tied into one network or provider to get insurance coverage, if you had called around Maryland, you might have found a better deal financially but ideally a more supportive person. I don’t know that other audiologists do loaners when a customer is waiting for an order or getting aids repaired–that’s different from a free demo or trial of a customer who is deciding which aids to buy. Audiologists who sell enough units from a manufacturer will get offered demo units by the manufacturer for free trials, as I understand it. It tends to be new, higher-end models that are available for trials, so it’s a promotional thing for the HA manufacturer that offers this. And often, the trial is only free if you later buy something from that audiologist; otherwise you’re likely going to owe fitting fees. You can’t just skip around from audi-to-audi, month-to-month, so you get free HAs for life.

I paid $6990 for my Oticon Agils with streamers. I get 3 yrs of batteries, unlimited visits/fittings, and a 3yr loss/damage warranty (better than what Oticon offers).

I know it’s more than most other people have paid. Way more. However, my right ear is pretty messed up my speech recognition in that ear is 32% vs 100% in my right ear, and I have had weekly visits since I got these babies in September, and the service is unbelievable. She researches stuff for me. She emails me. She’s very thorough. I feel like a rock star with the attention to detail I’m getting, seriously. Every visit is about 2 hours, and we discuss what’s working and what’s not, and then she gets busy with the software, tweaking stuff to make what’s not working better. And we do this every single week.

This week I had a 3 hr appt on Tuesday (we spent a lot of time tweaking my music program and then deciding to change out my power receive to a medium receiver and start over), and since Tuesday, she ordered me a new streamer b/c mine was acting funky with low battery life, she had me come in and refit the medium receiver wire (the one I got Tuesday was too long) and she took the time to review the changes from my 2009 audiogram which was finally faxed from my other place in Alaska, and she made some recommendations on how I should proceed (basically, I need a CAT scan/MRI to check for inner ear tumor) and I need to see an otologist like yesterday.

So I paid a lot for these bad boys, but I’m so happy I didn’t buy from Costco and am on my own from now on. I guarantee these would be sitting in their box, if that were the case, and not in my ears where they are now.

However, loaners or a trial pair were never offered to me. Not sure why, but they made their recommendation, I did my research (got an account on here lickety-split), we ordered, and I had them in 3 days. I’m still in my 75 day trial period. I get all my money back save 5% for all the fitting fees (and I’m well over $350 worth of those already, too!) if I turn them in in December, but I don’t see that happening.

My audi’s doing everything under the sun to make sure I’m as pleased as punch, and I sure am!

As she always tells me, this is a partnership, and if I’m not happy, it’s not working for her, either.

I know not every audi is like this, and it’s probably why I finally felt confident to spend the cash when I never had in Alaska, though I’ve needed HAs for over a decade.

Anyway, if you’re ready to buy HAs and live in Northern Colorado, drop me a line and I’ll hook you up with my audi group. They seriously rock and totally get customer service.

this is the way it is suppose to be.
