@kevels55 ,is that a pull out handle on your molds, I don’t have those on mine and they are Boots/phonak.
Yeah Michael, I am also using “Heavy Walled Tubing” which apparently gives you an extra 5db of gain? The pull tags, (I have no idea, what they are actually called ) stick out’ slightly proud of the ears, but I am way past any aesthetic issues
I find these soft acrylic moulds, as opposed to full C-shell silicon hypoallergenic moulds, extremely comfortable, far easier to put in, and remove… The C-shells, where killing my ears, so much so, the slightest bit out, created a sore underneath the mould, stopping me wearing them for a few days, until the sore cleared up… Cheers Kev
@kevels55 I’d love some of those, but vented.
When my slimtips arrived, the disco ball stuck out far too far, so I had to cut it off.
Peter
Hi Peter, they did come vented, and where sent back, for unvented Boots will make you a set, I believe @Zebras gets her ones made their all the time? Cheers Kev
Edit: I don’t think they are too expensive?
Mine were £80 for the pair! Ruth said that was expensive. I can’t understand the difference in a supposedly national chain.
Btw Kev,I’m up for some L90"s on the 28th, if there not up to your reviews I’ll be taking silk
Well, in truth, I am hopeful you will like them Michael… Everything is relative though, hearing loss is such an individual thing, especially when you step up to the severe/profound thresholds, but if you like the Phonak overall sound experience, I am sure you will enjoy them, obviously with a good fit… I think you get a 60 or 90 days, no quibble return, so if you don’t fancy them, you are covered Good luck on the 28th, please let us know how you get on, be that, good, bad or indifferent, it helps the other members of the forum, make more informed choices… Cheers Kev
It’s what they type into the database to get price.
I’ve noticed if you type full shell silicone ear mould, it’s a lot more expensive than typing in Starkey full shell silicone ear mould.
This has been noted in 2 stores in my County and 1 store in the next County.
They could also help us by not eliminating critical features like traditional battery hearing aids, telecoil, and not removing CROS compatibility with the NAIDAs. They are dirtbags, pure and simple. Never using them again.
For your delectation @dankailo… I have taken an image, alongside a measuring tape, silver Naida Paradise 90’s without moulds, on top… I believe, the Naida Paradise are the same size as the Naida Lumity’s 90’s on the bottom, although allegedly 14% smaller than the Naida Ventures? Cheers Kev
Thanks for the nice photo. Have a nice weekend & Merry Christmas!
I just switched from Phonak P90(Costco) to the Lumity 90, I’ve had them for 2 days now, and I must say that there is a great improvement for me in understanding speech in a noisy environment(sitting at a table of 6 in a dining room with many other tables). I could understand everyone around the table and it seemed like the usual “chatter” from the rest of the room was suppressed. There was a considerable improvement from the P90’s.
I have a 50 db drop from 2kz to 3kz, and the 24 frequency bins are better at dealing with this sharp drop than did the 16 bins of the P90. I have ear molds that improve the acoustic isolation and allow for a lot of gain at 3kHz without feedback. I am able to hear the 3kHz frequencies of speech much better and that really helps with understanding. I am happy with them so far and expect to keep them.
P90 (and P70) have 20 bands. If your HAs only had 16 bands, you maybe had P50s? There are many advantages of lumity over paradise. I don’t think fitting band increases were part of it.

Merry Christmas @danka… I hope you, and all the forum participants, have a peaceful & joyful time, over the festive period… Much love to u’all
@WhiteHat
I would imagine the “Stereozoom 2.0” would be a factor in the Lumity improvement.
@kevels55 and all, Merry Christmas
Peter
Thanks. I stand corrected. It must have been the other features of Lumity that made the difference, which was real. They were both 90s.
What colour are your L90 Kev? Graphite grey?
I can’t decide between black or the graphite grey.
I believe, they are Graphite Grey Ruth, I actually quite like that colour, I wasn’t too fussed, so I let my A.uD choose Cheers Kev
I chose Chestnut. I just wanted them to look different to NHS aids
Hi Peter… My grandson has a single aid, it is metallic green, and it really pops (he is a Celtic FC fan) issued by the NHS, I think paediatric aids, have a wide spectrum of colours, unfortunately adults don’t have those kinda choices! Malcolm has single sided deafness, from birth, absolutely no hearing on the right, and a mild/moderate loss on the left, caused by a virus, CMV I believe? But he is fortunate in many ways, to be born into a “Deaf Aware Family”, in some ways it is advantageous, we understand, ( he is 10 now) he takes it in his stride, and most probably assumes, hearing loss is a fairly common thing… He has no stigma attached to his loss, which in my book, is a head start above other unfortunate kids, with a profound loss, albeit a mainly single sided one… Cheers Kev
@kevels55
I’m glad the stigma thing isn’t as bad as it was many moons ago. I’ve had no trouble with wearing hearing aids, except being the butt of the occasional joke, but I don’t mind that, and am pretty outgoing in the right company. I was also 49 when I got them, but they were analogue and looked nothing like the swanky metallic ones of today.
In the early 1970’s, I needed glasses. I sat at the front of the class to read the blackboard, and put it off for nearly 4 years, due to the stigma, which was still pretty bad then. Thankfully, that stigma seems to have gone now. My brother used to say: “You’ve got the best eyesight in the village… nobody else can see through them!”
Cheers, Peter
