Phonak Lumity Naida 90 UP BTE Review

@firenzel
Thank you so much. I’ve removed it from Automatic. Another feature of Target I knew nothing about. To be honest, there’s loads. For example, I’d love to lose that dotted “estimated feedback” line in APD

Can someone check gain tables in Target for P90/L90for me please.
I added Speech in loud noise as a manual program on my P70’s and the gain tables are the same as Speech in noise.
The only difference is that mic has gone from Ultra zoom to stereo zoom.
Phonak may have anticipated this.

On my P70, the gain is the same between Speech in Noise and Speech in Loud Noise.

I have SiLN on my HAs, but don’t use it as it’s too quiet.

Speech in 360 also has the same gain as Speech in Noise.

Tomorrow, wed 10.4. I am going to prove Phonak Lumity Naida 90 UP BTE, This is best to me because I don´t like recharcdable ones. I make long trips to Norway and live in my car. Can´t have electric every day. Hope that Lumitys are good to me. Another brand is Oticon or GN Resound. Both is available here.I use solid ear pieces. I hope they use REM, forgot to ask. ms.mese

When I scrolled through these gains the other day, they were all pretty similar, except Music

Good Luck with the Lumitys @ms.mese… Hopefully, they will work well for you… Cheers Kev

Oh my gosh. The Phonak directional beamforming is one thing i really like. I wish i could get the beam/cone more narrow!

I see, in my limited recent experience, that your loss needs Soundrecover2.

@PeterH Thank you, I will double check. :+1:t3:

This is an update to my ongoing trial of the Naida L90 BTE UP. I am at the end of my trial period, and am planning to keep this pair of HA’s. I have been in for multiple adjustments and at this point they are working well for everything except being in the car at 60+ miles per hour. I am still trying tweaks to improve car performance, but am guessing I may end up with a partner mic. I’d consider the Roger devices if they weren’t so expensive.
I am having periodic issues with the HA’s changing settings and sometimes disconnecting without any intervention on my part. I can go the phone app and see when setting have changed (usually volume in one aid or the other) and get things reset.
I purchased a TV Link from EBay and it works nicely, but these HA’s are good enough that at normal TV volume, I am doing quite well. Many times I am understanding well enough that I forget to turn on closed captions. Music streaming is very good and I am quite happy with the quality. Phone streaming is not performing as well as my Oticon OPN’s, but by increasing the volume, it is workable. I was initially concerned about how clear I would sound in a phone conversation due to using the HA mics to pick up my voice, but I have not had any complaints so far. What I have noticed is that streaming connections do not carry as far as I am used to in the past. Once a wall is crossed, the signal seems to drop fairly quickly; sometimes in as little as 20 feet (six+ meters for those of you in the modern world) from the streaming source.
What I am also impressed with so far is battery life. I need to start recording when I put in new batteries so I will know how long they are lasting. I have had these HA’s for about six weeks now and have only changed batteries twice! Yes, the 675’s make for a “clunkier” aid, but the power and duration are wins in my book.
So, the bottom line is that I’m seeing definite word recognition improvement with these aids. If I can get the car situation fixed, I’ll once again be able to hear my wife’s cherished input on my driving habits (hmmm . . .).

This may just be me, but ive noticed all the noise settings, including car, work better when the hearing aids are on full compression. I’ve tried semi-linear, and linear, and while i love the way it sounds one-to-one in a quiet room, everything else works better with the prescribed compression.

I went back to prescribed compression and made an app program based on “car” and pushed noiseblock all the way, and i can hear people in the car again!

Edit: I have Audeo Lumity L90 UP.

I am glad you are doing so well with the Naida Lumity 90 UP BTE’s @TomHalf, hopefully the minor problems will be ironed out… Depending on the car, engine, road & wind noise at 60mph is always going to be challenging, any of the Roger devices will greatly enhance your wife’s voice, and your listening experience, the “Clip on Mic” is tiny, and works well in a car… Also in the MyPhonak app under Bluetooth Phone Calls, check to see if “Adaptive Bandwidth” is ticked, as opposed to, “Normal sound quality”, periodically check this, as it has an annoying habit of switching back to, Normal sound quality… Cheers Kev

Just a thought, have you checked in the app, which programme Autosense switches to, while you’re in the car (over 60mph)? If it’s “speech in car”, then you know where to look to make adjustments. I find Autosense can’t decide which programme to switch to, so I often go back to my startup “Music” programme, which is very noisy, but I can then hear everything. I need to concentrate to decipher the speech.

The speech in car programme uses beamforming (Paradise P90), which I understand if you are a back seat passenger. I don’t understand it for the driver though, and the windscreen rarely speaks!

Sounds like they’re working well for you i most other environments

Thanks @Baltazard for all that, can you just check to see if there is any difference in gain values between Speech in loud noise and Speech in noise please.
There is a big difference between Calm situation and Speech in noise so I expected a difference in the other two.

My gains are identical for both speech in noise and speech in loud noise

This link might be relevant. It talks about what triggers the speech in noise and speech in loud noise:

I am confused as to how the gains are identical though. I would have thought there has to be a difference between the 2 programs - more noise suppression in the loud noise program for example.
