Thanks. I think I was just trying to say that I perhaps would be a candidate for just a power BTE and not the UP model. But the Lumity is only available in the PR and UP. Whereas in previous versions I think there was an SP and UP. Sorry for the confusion!
Thanks. I did not realise this. I assume the SP version only came out recently.
Do you know if the SP version is smaller than the UP version, as I think I have the UP version on order, which I don’t think I will need.?
Nadia M-SP ist a bit smaller than the UP.
On the Phonak website ( link above ) you can find the link to the fitting ranges , and the SP is limited to 80dB in the range between 125H to 1kH.
Click on “Fitting guide Product info” to see the frequency chart for the SP or UP
Thank you. Not being pedantic, but I think the PR is limited to 80dB. It looks like the SP goes down to 100dB. Or am I wrong?
You are correct. Sorry I mixed it up with the PR.
The Naida L-SP release were a view weeks ago.
Just for reminder…
Phonak releases the new generation of hearing aids every 2 years, usually in August. Lumity have been released in Aug 2022, so I wait for new linup of their aids in this late summer.
The new Naidas will be probably in 2025.
Your hearing loss probably means with domes you’ll not get enough gain to get full benefits from your aids. I know that comfort of using is the most important, but only earmolds extract full potential of device.
If you have problem during chewing, maybe silicone earmold helps, but I don’t have any experience from it. Or slimtips?
Maybe whoever from providers will give an advice - @Neville?
I appologize I didnt write well
my first hearing aid did that It was 20 years ago I was trying to say that way back moulds were taken to shape my in the ear canal Widex hearing i had back thecurrent hearing aids are ok with Power Domes
my
Good news. Specsavers have ordered the Naida Lumity SP in addition to the UP. I will be able to trial both and see what my preference is. Will update soon.
Thank you. Will post pictures. I think the dimensions are in the post above, in the product specs for the Naida. The SP is a few mm smaller. T.b.h I was a bit nervous about going from RIC back to a really chunky BTE, but my wife tells me that the BTE isn’t any more noticeable than the RIC and I can see it looks pretty sleek.
lol…I don’t quite have his chiselled appearance. Obviously the UP looks more noticeable from the side. The SP will be smaller, but overall I don’t think it will matter.
Yes, I’ve mentioned to @DaveL before that he would probably be better off in a custom tip. Particularly in that left ear.
Not my hearing aids. They belong to WSIB. Workman’s Comp.
I had two sets of Phonaks that I said WTF? When I got them. Two Audis.
I have a hearing instrument specialist now that’s part way there. Biggest gain? Proper hearing test. I don’t want to tick him off. Or put him at risk. So I don’t know how to make improvements from here.
I hear about word scores being trash if the test is verbal not recorded. I’ve only had verbal for 20 years.
I know I don’t hear right real world. I know I like high power. I don’t know what’s wrong.
Sorry for the rant. I’m caught in hearing aid h-ll
I’ve read lots of books. And seen countless videos. Why should I have to do this?
Back tuning cars I learned some things
-change one thing at a time. See how it works
-keep it simple stupid
-if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
-if it doesn’t fit get a bigger hammer
I don’t know what’s broke. Don’t know how to fix it
And I don’t want to tick off WSIB
I’m afraid to spend money.
You all help so much. I truly appreciate it
Dave
You can’t. That’s our job.
Laughing. Thanks.
Edit. Wish there was a big poster telling me what to do with my hearing aids
My first hearing aid was in my canal. It hurt terribly. I’m scared of inserts from my experience.
It’s my heritage.
