Phonak Lumity Naida 90 UP BTE Review

@Zebras
Sorry you’re having more health problems, we just don’t need this. Thinking of you.

A question. Can you mix and match Phonak aids in Target? I’ve seen single hearing aids come up regularly at decent prices.

For example, I could have picked up a brand new L90 for £200 a couple of months ago, and I’ve seen a P70 for a similar price.

I just wonder if I’d bought these, would Target match them, so Roger/Bluetooth/TV Connector would recognise each other as a set?

Interesting questions Peter, I don’t know the answers though? No doubt someone will have tried a mixture of different aids? Cheers Kev :wink:

TBH, Ruth… I thought you might, it’s a lot of money to shell out! I was most fortunate they gave me a free trial, + £600 discount, + 30% discount on top of that, for doing a direct comparison evaluation/review, Naida Lumity UP 90’s V Naida Paradise UP 90’s, I paid, £2.1k, I couldn’t have bought them new, from any online seller at that price, also got spare twin walled tubing, spare ear hooks, and 2 sets of custom soft acrylic moulds, plus fitting, and hearing tests, as many follow ups as I want, so it was a no brainer for me! Take care, Kev x

I can throw in a little info here.
The short answer is no. The aids need to be the same for reasons with technology. The left and right aids talk to each other and each level of aids needs the same technology to function properly together.

It was posted by the owner of the forum. I’ve found it really helpful. It was intended to help listeners with HAs if the speakers wore masks.

I had a horrible experience in hospital a year ago when I couldn’t hear my Doc. So I tried it

I have it in my Phonak Paradise P90s right now. In Autosense calm.

When placing the HA’s into the dryer, make sure the earmolds vent is facing up. As moisture evaporate, it moves upward into the open space. If the vents is facing downward, and air circulation is poor, then the moisture will accumulate in the dampers. This is how I store my Xceed every night in the “Jam Jar” dryer with Dessicants (5 x 1 grams).
I will also use tissue and roll it up and tdry the vents - as far the tissue goes in.

Erratic distortion of your HS’s might be due to BT interference from nearby mobile phone or Roger ALD’s.

All the best.

In all honesty @dankailo… I had thought about buying a new, and slightly larger hearing aid drier, I have had that drier, a few years now, and I am not convinced it is still heating up, I will run some tests today, UV light is certainly coming on, but the heating element could be goosed? Yeah, their was probably something like a 100 mobile phones, with Bluetooth going in that Bar/Pool Hall, so plenty of potential interference available for my Lumity aids…As for distortion, I appear to be hearing back to my usual self, or perhaps my imagination is running riot, as yesterday, I was texting on my iPhone, with my hearing aids out, I could clearly hear the keystrokes, a strange anomaly for me, as I have never knowingly heard that before, unaided! But, thank you for your reply :smile: Cheers Kev :wink:

This may sound strange but there are times I can take my processors off and hear little things like turning a light switch on or off when I know this impossible. I am deaf with the processors off the implants.
I have come to the conclusion that the brain expects a sound to happen and it imaginarily does.

Maybe this is what is happening to you.

Yeah Rick, at the time, I was concentrating if I was actually hearing this! I am also aware the power of the mind, can play tricks on us! Later that day, my wife called me for dinner, I was in the bedroom, she was in the kitchen, I had my aids in… 3 rooms away, and several walls, I clearly and distinctly heard her say dinner, but it was the clarity in her voice, that astonished me, over a distance of about 20 metres or more… Again, it could be my vivid imagination? It was as if, I was standing right next to Elspeth… Strange! Cheers Kev :wink:

If I wasn’t physically unwell, I would have jumped at buying them but due to my current situation, I don’t feel I’ll fully use them and the extra features within the L90 now with the news I’ve had.

So sorry to hear that Ruth.
I’m still nowhere any better with my L90’s and don’t think I’ll be keeping them.
Disappointed with Boots service, but been lucky in the past with my needs.
I am considering going for P30 's at Specsavers for warranty backup or winging it online.

I wonder if the App is the same across all technology levels?

I know my P70 plus the App, and @PeterH App for his P90 are identical.

Wonder if even tho you have the P30, the App is the same with the extra features to use?

I understand Ruth, or try too… I am quite impulsive, once I decide something , invariably that’s what will happen… Given your present circumstances, I would probably dived in, and got them, but just like our hearing losses, we are all different… Hopefully it pans out with the Paradise! Take care, Kev x

I think the app is basically the same but things like dynamic noise cancellation are specific to L90.
I was wondering if the equivalent to SILN could be set up as a manual program in lower tier models, not that it was any to me. @Zebras did you get my last pm?

@michael1
I had issues with my setup since my Paradise P90’s were awarded by workman’s comp…
It was the setup. But it took a year and a half for me to skip from the audi (he politely fired me!) and find someone new. It’s been two steps forward and one back since. I just had a tune-up and I think that they’re the best they’ve been.
I get incredible help here. But I think in this hearing aid business I have to find the right skilled person to setup my hearing aids. There’s some fatal flaws if I don’t have the right person.

I wonder how this is done? I would be interested to know :slight_smile:

I replied to your last PM :slight_smile:

I’m very much a person who likes to own very little. :rofl:

I will splash out on new Roger’s etc and sometimes new hearing aids over new clothes or a posh expensive holiday! :rofl:

@Zebras
The app is the same, but for a P30 I would imagine things like the Music programme will be missing from the App, as it isn’t available on the hearing aid. However, “Speech in Loud Noise” was in the App for my Marvel M70, although it isn’t a selectable option in Target, so I could well be wrong.

Sorry to hear you are not doing well with the Naida Lumity UP’s @michael1… But, sometimes it’s a proverbial lottery, what suits me, might be totally alien to your ears… Such is our individual personal preferences, not to mention our unique hearing losses… But, you can easily return, and go elsewhere for another option. I do feel however, perhaps another Boots A.uD, might have gotten you a better fit? Good Luck with the Paradise :wink: Cheers Kev
