@Zebras
Is that the Wholesale hearing site?
If so, I recommend it.

I wouldn’t be purposefully going in for a dip with them on Ruth… Although, 2 Seasons ago, I ended up swimming in “The Kyles of Sutherland” whilst trying to catch my fishing rod, I had just cast out, when my pal asked if I had noticed the Osprey, so I laid the rod down to move closer to speak to him, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the rod take off, and go straight into the water, closely followed by yours truly, I ended up swimming with the fishes the rod was gone, with a Salmon merrily dancing/jumping on the other end of the line I got the rod back, using another rod, with a weighted treble hook, amazingly the fish was still on, but alas he got off, after I nearly ended up swimming again It was indeed a comedy of errors, and if someone had been filming, it might have made a very funny video, it took a couple of days to dry out my iPhone properly, my Naida Paradise UP’s where fine though… Cheers Kev
Now that is a fish story if I ever heard one
It nearly ended up, the fairytale fish story If that Salmon had stayed on absolutely no one would have believed that whopper Sometimes life is stranger than fiction… Cheers Kev
You couldn’t stretch the size of the salmon either. It gets a little bigger each year.
Yeah Rick, it wasn’t really that big, well at about 30 or 40 yards from the bank, it looked maybe 6 or 7lbs, big enough to haul the rod in though Kyles of Sutherland images below, first image is exactly the day I went in for an unexpected dip and the exact spot, where the fish hauled that rod rest over the second image is from the same spot, looking onto Bonar Bridge… Cheers Kev
I thought the issue with the Audeo Lumity Life was that the receivers aren’t waterproof. You’d have to use a custom silicone mold for them to survive a swim, which most RIC users don’t use. Even that would be hit or miss because some water will probably still get in the ear and the speaker electronics are right there. For the BTE version, if all points of connection between the tube, aid, and mold are watertight, it might be fine. Even if some water got into the tube through the ear, it would literally have an uphill battle to work its way into the aid before it could do any real damage.
Well, I tried to swim just twice in a pool with my Phonak Lumity Life aids right after I got them (waterproof and all). But I ended up drowning them. I swim with a snorkel mask on, so the aids never even got below 15 cm (6") in water. Immediately, the aids lost contact with each other, so they did the 5-note slide the entire time I was in water. After the 2nd swim, the left aid was fried. It just hummed LOUD. No fixing it.
I think the critical link for me is that my speakers have soft, silicone double domes on the end - no custom mold. So water got into my ear canal, and then right into the speaker with ease.
You GOT it! I started out with the custom, semi-firm, clear silicone molds on my Lumity Life aids, but they had to come off within a few days. I was allergic to them.
I never had a chance to swim with those custom molds in the water. But if the seal is GOOD, maybe these Lumity Life aids wouldn’t fritz after a dunking? I’m never trying to swim with them on again.
Oh dear, Wholesale Hearing are telling me I can’t have the Paradise models from the NHS.
Even the Marvel is not 7 to 8 years old.
They also won’t accept an audiogram from NHS as well which I find super odd.
@Zebras
The requirements for the Audiogram were all these, including that tolerance level at the bottom. NHS never did that with me
They want an audiogram from me with BC results on it despite it being No Response.
The whole thing is odd.
@Zebras
My private Audiologist did it. Like many, he moved on from the NHS many years ago. He spent at least 90 minutes doung the hearing test, and a basic fitting with closed (2 holes) domes. When the Slimtips arrived, he did another test (in Target) and then spent about an hour getting the highs up.
Peter
@Zebras
Just a thought, You could do all the requirements within the Audio direct part of the Target software?
Peter
@Baltazard
They didn’t really ask me where, or how I got the Audiogram. Come to think of it, I haven’t got the equipment to do a Conductive test anyway.
They sort of need he same, equivalent, information that “Glasses 4 You” would need for glasses. A recent, valid test.

Minor report.
L90 UP’s fitted three weeks ago. Could only manage a few days before ear sore/infection demanded antibiotics and no aid.
Got home to discover Boots audi had fitted to APD and not NAL 2. New moulds had pressure vents so reverted to my existing occluded set.
Overall I’m disappointed with the performance. No improvement of clarity, not quite as good as P30 UP. Streaming good but not quite the presence of the P30.
My gain tables are based on REM from my P30’s so a good comparison.
I have a limited exposure due to my wife having no voice and not regular noisy places but a recent visit to a large cafe was surprising. A surprise conversation with a friend was a struggle, speech in loud noise was working and his voice was severely reduced, i had to lean in close to be able to hear him.
Yesterday was the first revisit for adjustments and back to two aids.
Moulds will be replaced.
She suggested soft noise reduction to help with SPILN. ?
To use the restaurant programme in the app before SPILN and also to use the enviromental balance when that is in use. I think I’m going to be unlucky as previous experience was poor with the presets, didn’t make the difference experienced by some members on here.
Will report back.
