I was searching for user reviews about the Phonak Lumity L90 and saw this review on reddit.com. I am worried about it. Has anyone faced the same issues? I am planning to purchase the Lumity L90 on Monday. Lumity L90 users, please share your experiences. A screenshot of the reddit.com review is attached.
I have a pair of L90 and theyāre great.
Autosense is the a Phonak program that switches across programs based on the environment youāre in. It works very tight but if you prefer to āblockā the HAs on one program only or change them manually, you can.
Can it be blocked from the mobile app?
Yes. There are people here who love autosense and folks who change default program to a single program. They will automatically switch to bt streaming when a call comes in, and then when the call ends, it returns to default program (which is autosense unless you have it programmed for a different default program.) That default change needs to be done with the tools used by HCPs and DIYers.
There is also a remote that can be used to make the changes among programs. A long press on the down button can also change the program once forward in the rotation.

I have never tried premium hearing aids. Even my current hearing aids are Unitron D Moxi technology, level 3 (basic), so I am hopeful that the issues unresolved with the Unitron will be resolved with the L90ā¦e.g
1.Soft speech issue
2.Group conversation
3.Speech discrimination
4.Mental fatigue (due to hearing aids)
It all depends on how your audiologist/you will program them.
For situations with not much background noise, and especially for soft speech, the L90 is still among the best HAs.
I have L70 and wish I had the $ for the L90. I had the audiologist install the Speech in Loud Noise that the L90 has in Auto. I can switch to lock in a program using the app or pressing the buttons on the HA.
Why are you getting the lumity the Infinio are out? Their the most recent models.
The infinios may not be available in all countries. Not sure if they are not available where they live, or if it is an economic decision.

Infinio is not available in Pakistan. Lumity L90s are much more expensive in Pakistanātriple the prices available in other countries, so I am purchasing it from Dubai. If Infinio came to Pakistan and I wanted to purchase it, I would have to sell my home and maybe a kidney for it.
Iāve now had various versions of Marvel, Paradise and now Lumity.
Autosense just doesnāt do it for me, so no need for 90s. I have tried, but they just rarely switch to the programme I believe it should, so I just have 2 or 3 additional switchable programmes, and I disable Autosense and have one of the additionals as startup.
30ās (from the ones Iāve had) only have calm situation and speech in noise in their Autosense, which is generally enough, once the calm stuff is removed from programme options. However, the downside of 30ās is the low number of adjustable frequencies compared to 70 or 90.
Itās a very personal thing to me, and my expectations. Many on here love how Autosense will take you to a calm place and take away those annoying background noises, like fans, birds, leaves in trees, and tyre rumble from otherwise silent electric cars. Iād rather hear that the gas hob is still on, and Iāve left a tap (faucet) running.
Anyway, in conclusion, 70 is the tech level Iām happiest with, and currently Iām prefering Bolero Marvel M70 over Naida Lumity L90 SP.

@DamonHill is right. The setup is key. I have Paradise P90 R hearing aids. Yours will be better than mine.
Are you comfortable with paradise? Please share your experience.
I hated my Naida P70 because of AutoSense but then I got the Naida P30 and loved how they performed but then I got the Oticon Xceed and loved how much I pick up with Oticon so I sold my Naida P30.
I am. Now. I had to leave the person who provided my hearing aids. I found a hearing aid specialist who has set them up right.
Setup is key. I believe that finding a good vendor who sets them up is as important as the model of hearing aid you buy.
Your hearing aids are a newer model than mine. You will have them a long time. Iām fascinated with the reviews I see for the new model of hearing aid that replaces the one you are buying.
My hearing aids are now three years old. Phonak has provided wonderful help. They replaced my hearing aids and charger. Iāve shared many comments in the past. I have different receivers with better wax guards now.
HindsightāI should have found a better hearing aid provider sooner.
I hope this helps.
Naida is the latest, or Lumity, or both are same?
Phonak call their HAs in pattern:

Phonak Naida Lumity 70.
or
Phonak Bolero Marvel 30
Styles of hearing aids:
-
Audeo - RIC
-
Bolero - BTE for maximum severe hearing loss
-
Naida - power BTE for severe to profound
-
Virto - style In The Ear or In The Canal or Completely In Canal
-

Cautionā¦the lumity hearing aid is not waterproof. The receivers are not waterproof.
I understand youāre looking for a receiver in canal hearing aid

I love auto sense. On the Infinios it is a different level altogether.
I have had KS10s, Paradise P50s, Lumity and now Infinio.
What I will say is this, you have to work at Autosense with your Audi.
When you do it is gold dust. If they are switching when you donāt think they should be get them reprogrammed. Each programme can be tweaked individually and you wonāt get this in one or even two sittings. When you get all of them humming they are marvellous.
If you can donate a kidney (who needs two ) Sphere AI is more than worth it
I was first fitted with Marvel 70s which had AutoSense 3.0 in 2019. I didnāt really care for them as I struggled to hear in simple situations such as
grocery store check out clerk or the server at a fast food counter. As I reflect, I think part of the problem was my lack of understanding the limitations of what a hearing aid can do. For me background noise is a huge problem. Perhaps I should have been fitted with the Marvel 90s which had a higher level of noise rejection.
In 2023 I upgraded to Lumity 90 with AutoSense 5.0 The overall performance, while much improved, still left me struggling in noisy venues. I added a Roger On microphone to assist me in these situations. The 90 series gives you some extra built in programs within AutoSense, such as Speech in Loud Noise and Speech in Car which for me work quite well. In order to better understand why I was having trouble hearing in noisy venues, I began documenting each venue and noise level, using the mobile app called DecibelX. For me, when background is at 95 db and above, not even the Roger On was helpful. As a user, Iāve also learned that in a quiet setting, the size of the room effects ability to hear speech. Even if the rooms have the same exact level of background noise, the smaller the room, the better the speech quality. I hear television much better in my bedroom (18ā x 10ā) much better than the family room (20ā x 15ā)
Some have reported Bluetooth connectivity issues with the Lumity. Iāve had minimal issues with my Samsung android phone, usually resolved with a reboot of the phone. I tried Oticon More for one month and the Bluetooth was horrible.
What audiologists donāt tell clients is that within Phonak Target, the programming software, there are several āformulasā available to program the hearing aids - all of which have different characteristics that will effect your ability to hear speech. Audiologists seem to favor the āNAL NL-2ā programming formula, I prefer Phonakās proprietary āAdaptive Phonak Digitalā
Having hearing aids programmed using Real Ear Method (REM) is a very debatable topic. Audiologists who use it, defend it passionately and others who donāt seem to mock it. I had my Marvel 70s programmed using REM and the results were worse than without REM. I consulted an audiologist who does use REM and I my question was āwill REM help me or anyone else hear conversation better in noisy environments?ā The response was no. If you do enough research, by far the biggest complaint amongst hearing aid users is inability to hear speech in high background noise. So regarding REM, my response would be whatās the point?
In summary, I think the Lumity 90 is a very good hearing aid, but even the best hearing aid wonāt help you unless you have an audiologist that is expert with Phonak Target, and is willing to take whatever time is necessary to fine tune the aids to your satisfaction.
