Nah, you can change the wire but not the receiver.
Received with Thanks. Have a nice evening!
I have acrylic molds manufactured by Oticon, very similar looking to Volusiano’s. Watched my audiologist as she installed them and it looked like the receivers snapped in with a little effort on her part. Imagine there is a way to remove them and swap the receiver.
The receiver used in acrylic molds is slightly different in design from the receiver used in double dome mold (picture). If the receiver is bricked, we need to change the acrylic mold and receiver. It will be expensive. How about silicon mold (DIY)?
HA.pdf (194.4 KB)
@kevels55: This is what I found in the litter box the day after my HAs went missing! You, too, I see …
@dankailo: Why do they call it that? I thought domes were domes and molds were molds???
Silicon power dome. My mistake.
@dankailo: I don’t mean to be argumentative, but what the picture shows is neither silicone, nor is it a dome., (What I photographed is called a Power Mould, according to my audiologist.)
It is called minifit Power 10mm by Oticon. The standard dome you buy from the Audi or online.
@dankailo: Well, I must be missing the photo or misunderstanding something. What post number is this picture in?
Line 203. A photo is attached.
@dankailo: We aren’t wearing anything similar to these photos. We are wearing custom fitted acrylic power molds. Surely any dome must be insufficient for your hearing loss.
(I’ve just noticed the link in post 203. I have inoperable cataracts, and that small reference is hard ro make out.)
Hi Jim, Thanks for your kind reply. That is why I am moving towards power acrylic mold with 105db. Now I am using 100db mic with power dome but still finding it difficult in noisy environment. Hope the 105db with power acrylic mold might help for my type of hearing loss using the More1. Is there a possibility of having Xceed in the right ear and More in the left ear?
Thanks and take care.
I can’t answer this, because I’m not an audiologist or knowledgeable enough to answer you. Another Member, perhaps?
I would say probably not, because they have to communicate with one another , but the devices you mention use different platforms. But that’s only a guess. You there MrV? @Volusiano ?
Thanks Jim. We wait for @Volusiano reply then.
The left has improved with More but the right ear is not OK. Noisy environment is a pain. As there are single Xceed been sold in the eBay ( 300-500USD) at a very low price, tempting to buy is for the right ear. As the HA communicate with each other then having Phonak Naida paradise would differentiate them and phone apps will be different. As long the right ear improve in hearing then there might be possibility of better hearing. Maybe, need ask the Audi in the next firmware 1.4.2 update.
Any comments is highly appreciated.
@dankailo: i’ll be frank, then. I think your approach is wrong. You’re trying to find solutions to your hearing problem, without understanding what the cause of it is. I think you need to be working more closely with your audiologist to find out how come you’re having so much problem with the right ear.
Yes, you will find that the More hearing aids give you a more expansive, open experience, so if you’re not used to hearing noise, then it may be problematic as you get used to it. But if you’re finding a big difference between left and right hand ear performance (which is sort of natural, given your hearing loss) it indicates to me that the device on the right hand side is not adjusted properly.
I would go back to the audiologist and work with them instead of shopping around for deals on the Internet that are just going to end up being a waste of money and a frustration for you. Those are my candid comments, and I hope you are not offended by them.
I don’t think that you can mix different types/models of hearing aids within the same Oticon brand and have them be able to communicate with each other for binaural communication. Below is the Genie 2 page where you’re supposed to select the Oticon model. Note that there is only one selection list on the left side that would apply to both right and left aids.
You can of course still mix them if you want, but you would have to have each of them programmed individually. But then you would lose the binaural aspect between the 2 aids.
Do you want to replace the actual receiver inside the mold? No, you cannot.
But, if you want to replace/remove the receiver wire - yes you can.
The “Door” is simply a snap on cover that pops off, it should not be glued on normally.
Here is a You Tube how. I do not have the cool tool that removes the wire. My Audi taught me to yank hard and it unplugs / disconnects.
I’ve just bought 2 x Oticon Xceed 1 UP from eBay for £260.00. Think that is around $300
The seller posts worldwide apparently.
I now have 2 pairs. 1 pair free from the NHS and 1 pair I have bought.
