Today I got offered Oticon More 1 miniRITE-T for EUR 1600 each. It will be delivered in October. I have to pay half the money in advance so it will be ordered specially for me. Since the demand for expensive aids in my country is miniscule, the hearing clinic does not consider to import a large quantity of Oticon Mores on their own. The most expensive aid they carry is OPN which costs EUR 800. They barely moved several Exceeds with the price tag of EUR 1600 in the past year.
Meanwhile, my iPhone Camera has started crashing and iPhone needs recharging twice per day. I do not want to buy another iPhone, but I can not use any other phone with my current OPN aids. Now, where is the BTE version, Oticon? How long do I have to suffer?
Itās possible that replacing your iPhone battery could solve the camera problem (no guarantees though) as well as eliminate need for frequent charging.
I know that iPhone battery can be replaced. I have grown sick of 5-year old iPhone and I simply want to try out the latest and greatest Android smartphones.
I bought used iPhone XS on eBay several weeks ago and it can last 3 days if not used actively. It also feels snappier than iPhone 7. The upgrade was definitely worth it. Although I preferred to have bought Android because iOS lacks many features.
I also asked my Audiologist to enable frequency-lowering in Speech in Noise program. But I still can not hear the ticking of a clock. My receivers are fresh and blaring. Does that mean that my brain is damaged or what?
I thought they were talking about power aids. I guess I misunderstood. I wore BTE hearing aids for around 40 years before getting my current RIE hearing aidsā¦
EDIT - Sorry I misunderstood the question.
The difference is one is a RITE Aid and one is a BTE Aid. RITE Aids are becoming more of a choice to many people these days unless you have a hearing loss, that the RITE Aid doesnāt fit.
@Zebras OK Iām not sure if I fully understand the difference between RITE and BTE. The RITE is the receiver in the ear but the housing of the battery etc is in the BTE case?
My loss is severe to profound and I tried a RITE for a period but it did not work for me.
What Iām trying to establish is what difference I would find if I upgraded to More from my OPN S1 PP - both being BTE with moulds.
Only you can decide. Someone with the same hearing loss wonāt be able to tell you as we all hear differently.
Thereāll be better features within the More which may or may not help you hear better.
Your current Aids go to 105 dB so I assume your loss is not worse then 105 dB. You may do better with the Oticon Xceed as they are more powerful but not sure what technology is inside of the Xceed.
@Zebras Yes fully agree with the individual requirements and thus that is entirely subjective to the individual.
Iām more interested in the distinguishing features between the More and the OPN S1. What is the additional technology in the More and whether it would be noticeable to me for my loss. Clearly no point in buying new aids if there is little difference. On the other hand, if there is worthwhile features and advancements then it may be worth the spend.
I think I might need a bit more power than the PP and looked at the phonak UP so I donāt know if that version of the More exists. The Xceed seems to have more power but my assumption was these are a few years old now and thus not as up to date with the technology as the More?
Whether the changes would be noticeable and worth it to you is also quite subjective. My suspicion is that the differences are subtle, but then somebody could chime in and say that there was an incredible difference. All I can suggest is doing a trial or reading through reviews on the forum or Oticon marketing material. I know Oticon touts their use of artificial intelligence. I think there are also improvements in bluetooth technology.
