Oticon ConnectClip - audio cuts out

I’ve had Opn, Opn S and More. Theoretically, ConnectClip works exactly the same way for all three, although the problem of the audio cutting out happens on the More, but not on the Opn S. (I no longer have Opn, so I can’t comment on them.)

Maybe you don’t have your cclip paired to your phone & OPN’s?
Don’t connect the cclip to the pc.
It shows on my More, just like @mertgonul91 's screenshot.
I’d have to dig out my old OPNs, and find some batteries to see if it works, but to honest…I don’t care LOL!

Don’t bother @flashb1024 , I know why now. You need to connect the HAs to Genie 2 before you can see that little icon. I only opened up Genie 2 for my HAs but I didn’t bother connecting the HAs to Genie 2 before, so that’s why I didn’t see the little clear icon. I see it now after I connected the OPNs to Genie 2. It makes sense that you’d need to connect to the HAs for Genie 2 to be able to clear the pairing from the HAs.

By the way, it’s been a while since I used my NoahLink Wireless, so when I did the above, Genie 2 told me that I have a new firmware update 2.23 (I was on 2.19), so I went ahead and did the firmware update on the NoahLink Wireless as well.

My hearing aids were updated to 1.4.2 yesterday. For the first time in months, they are working properly with my iPhone and my ConnectClip.

I just checked mine, and it’s also 2.23. I’ve had it since 2021, so if it updated it must have been in the background.
I’d never before checked the f/w version.
Anyway, glad you figured out the cclip issue in Genie2!

As I reported in the thread about 1.4.2 firmware, it looks like I spoke too soon that the new firmware fixed the ConnectClip drop-outs. For some reason, it worked fine initially, but it’s back to the way it was before. Also like before, there is no problem with my Opn S and the ConnectClip. (I have two sets of hearing aids and ConnectClips.) I’m back to the Opn S hearing aids. Very disappointed with the More hearing aids.

This helped me with my clip issue

How to pair aids to connect clip

Oticon suggested pressing all three buttons and holding them…the light will turn white, then red. Then place the aids in the charger and turn the connect clip on and take the aids out of the charger. The connect clip will pulse yellow looking for the aids and then green when it finds them. Then they suggested to forget the pairing on the phone and re pair it through bluetooth. Once repaired they suggested to turn on the remote microphone (hold large button till the light turns pink). If the remote mic works with no problem and keeps the connection it rules out the connect clip being the problems and then we could assume its an aid problem. If the aids are connected to the phone and the connect clip is the two will fight and usually the aids will win so there is a known struggle but we can start by seeing if the connect clip is working

Thanks for your reply. When the firmware was updated, the pairings were cleared on both sets of hearing aids and I also reset the pairings on both ConnectClips. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve done this.

The hearing aids and ConnectClips are paired exactly the same way, except only the More hearing aids are paired with my iPhone. (I think it’s only possible to pair one set of hearing aids with an iPhone, anyway.) Both ConnectClips are paired with my laptop, but I have only one ConnectClip turned on at a time. The audio cuts out on the More hearing aids, but not on the Opn S hearing aids.

It has done this since I upgraded from 1.3.0 firmware. It worked fine with 1.3.0, but hasn’t worked properly since 1.3.0. This was consistent over two sets of More hearing aids and ConnectClip. My original More hearing aids and ConnectClip were returned to the factory. I got a brand new set of More hearing aids and ConnectClip. It’s a problem that Oticon admits they are aware of. I was told it would be fixed in 1.4.2, but based on the note that they posted on facebook which says there are no performance updates, I think they did not actually fix the problem in 1.4.2. I guess I will have to wait for another update. However, I might just return the More hearing aids, since they have been nothing but trouble since I got them. The Opn S hearing aids have been much more reliable, even if the sound isn’t as good and they don’t support ASHA.

Like I said once I was able to get my aids paired to the connect clips I haven’t had connectivity issues.

I’m not doubting that, but if my hearing aids weren’t paired, I wouldn’t be hearing any sound at all.

True but not completely, sometimes the pairing is fully paired. Meaning the hand shake between both aids and the clip wasn’t fully secured. I have had that to happen. With my iPhone, and or iPad and even my connect clip. Sometimes it is a bad device sometimes it is battery levels most times I find it to be interference. When I pair my aids to anything I get as far away from my WiFi router as possible. With my latest WiFi router I haven’t had as much issues because it is newer and uses less brute force than the older routers. It is a mesh network router meaning there are several units in my home. None of my devices connect to it with 2.4gig but the system does use the 2.4 gig to communicate between its network nodes.

Didn’t someone wonder whether connectivity improved if you do not use the app?

I just had the firmware upgrade last week. In addition, my provider wanted me to try using a USB Dongle. It worked fine for a few days and is now cutting in and out again. I removed the dongle, repaired up the hearing aids and laptop Bluetooth directly, which is how I previously connected. Same problem.

Yes that’s what my provider showed me. But how are customers getting this software? If I could reset it myself, that would at least resolve it temporarily.

One lasted a week and back to the same issue on the new firmware. Frustrated!

I heard back from my contact at Oticon this morning regarding the ConnectClip audio drop-out.

This problem has been elevated to a “top priority” in the R&D department. They are in the testing phase and there is no time frame for when a fix will be available.

I will be getting my More hearing aids downgraded to 1.3.0.

I am getting my new aids in a couple of weeks. I wonder what version I will get. Is the issue specific to using the connect clip or Bluetooth LE too? I stream with iPhone a lot for virtual meetings.

It’s a good question which firmware they will provide. I’m guessing it will most likely be the latest version, 1.4.2. 1.3.0 worked fine with the ConnectClip and my iPhone. 1.4.0 broke both. 1.4.1 fixed the iPhone, but not the ConnectClip. 1.4.2 didn’t change anything.

If you intend to use ConnectClip and iPhone, then 1.3.0 is the firmware I would recommend. However, this apparently does not affect all users the same.

If your hearing aids are delivered with newer firmware, the only way to get to an earlier version is to return them to Oticon. They should be able to supply them with an earlier version, but I have no idea for sure.

If you use iPhone, there’s no need to use the ConnectClip with it. Before, some people use the ConnectClip with their iPhone solely because they want the hand-free experience and not need to have to hold an iPhone close to their mouth (only wear the ConnectClip around their neck or clipped to their shirt). But with the latest iPhone iOS and More firmware, I think now you can have a hand-free experience between the More and the iPhone for calls without needing the ConnectClip anymore. So in your particular case, you probably want the latest version of the More, and the latest version of the iPhone iOS to make the hand-free possible. If I recall correctly, the latest version also allows you to choose between hand-free (using the More mics for your voice), or using the iPhone’s mic if you want.

Newer Android based smart phones that have ASHA support should work directly with the More without using the ConnectClip. But for use with PCs that only supports the legacy Bluetooth, then the ConnectClip is still needed for that.

I would use the connect clip for Bluetooth connection to my laptop. That is preferred for virtual meetings. I am initially not purchasing the connect clip because, although I can return the aids within 60 days, the connect clip would not be returnable.
