My Phonak Sphere Infinio I90 vs Lumity L90 Shootout

Motion sensor hearing is only enabled when AutoSense OS enters speech in noise & loud noise. When you are in a place NO unusual noise, but the noise of nature, AutoSense OS should consider it quiet.

Good point. So I wonder why hiking is a problem. Probably it’s because talkers’ mouths are directed in a different direction than @alfredhaddad36, so the sound waves go to the vast spaces of nature and are only partially bounced from the face of a third speaker back to the speaker and the OP.

@alfredhaddad36, what’s the power of your receiver? M (medium)? And what’s the length of wire to the receiver? It is 00, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4.

Mine was 2R M, but I found that 0R P is better for me (0 - length number, R - right ear, P - power receiver).

I have a P receiver, but it seems to me to be wire 1 (is there a way to check this without target?) In the target program it says receiver length 0 (that’s what my audiologist said, but I remember for sure that he ordered me 1).

What you wrote about nature does make sense, the speakers don’t face me, they face forward, that’s how the sound waves escape me, the question is, is there anything I can do about it?

If I turn up the volume too much on the device, then wind noise and the noise of birds and the stream, etc. also come in.

I don’t know really, but maybe soft noise reduction could be helpful. However, it’s more comfort feature than for increase speech understanding.

The real solution are the mic like PartnerMic. I don’t remember does Infinio supports more than one PartnerMic. There is also Roger microphones, but they’re expensive, unless you consider used one from eBay (must be In version - i.e. ā€œRogerOn In V2ā€ or V3).

You can also try to make another Calm Situation program for trial, where you increase gains for G50.

In myPhonak is also al slider for quiet sounds gain.

I have no idea. I know about myself only because I buy receiver on my own. There’s 5 mm length difference between each number: 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 and reportedly 10 mm between 0 and 00.

It’s Windy.
People are different heights.
People are moving.
There are no reflective surfaces to get secondary reflected soundwaves from.

Jordan, Thank you very much for your generosity in sharing such important observations and insights. I’m working through my first HAs for moderately severe to severe loss. I am 3 weeks into Phonak i-90 r (non sphere) and will trying the spheres. So my questions now that you are many months into the Spheres: are you still using the spheric AI in the less noisy situations? My audiologist believes strongly that there are no needs for this and that the non-spheres will be fine. Are you still using the double domes? TIA

I’ll be honest with you. I leave these hearing aids in the automatic program for 99% of the time and I just let AutoSense turn on the Sphere mode when needed and it is sometimes useful to force it on when there is background music playing in a noisy place but this is rare. And yes…still using double domes and P (Power) receivers.

I’d get the Sphere version. Even if you don’t use it that often it is critical for enjoying yourself in noisy places.

And battery life is outstanding, because it’s bigger than in R models.

And hopefully professional events such as dinners and bus rides to team events will be less stressful!

@JordanK

I’m using my Paradise P90Rs in auto too.

I just want to hear and understand

My setup is better now.

Finally.

I figure I’m about 65% there.

Your ha’s are much better than mine.

But workman’s compensation doesn’t provide them. They provide a less capable model.

I asked way back if I could pay the difference and upgrade. The answer was no.

I’m going to retire soon. I’m grateful I have W comp.

I solved that problem in a different way. I have programmed (using Target) the rear button to mute the microphones. No more wind noise. If you require that the microphones are live while you bike this would not work for you.

When you are riding on city streets in a busy city like Toronto, you need to be able to hear what’s going on around you or it’s a bit dangerous. A did a 40 mile ride today and’s it was very windy. The helmet liner worked perfectly. I still heard the wind a bit but it got rid of that horrible cracking sound you get when the wind blows across the hearing aid microphones.

Excellent. I shall do that when I get my e bike put.
I need a liner and a new helmet.

Excellent! Wonderful help.

Thanks

Thank you! Very helpful

I have good memories of a lady from your country. She was the first Principal of a new school I built.
She had wonderful values. Working with her was a highlight of my work in the school board.

I appreciate your help

Why would you not supported the wind nose in Target? (Wind block)?

My winter Tilly had has ear flaps that cut the wind noise by 75%, now I just have to figure something for my summer ones without getting to hot…LOL No e-bikes, just dog walking with wife and our 13 year old Rooty

My summer Tilly works great in the convertible. I don’t have issues with wind noise.
Gratefully that my HA setup is getting better

And the Tilly hat last longer than the car does.
