I’ve had to do that with my Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s…It’s frustrating.
Each time I’ve found one hearing aid dead/no charge. I regret not taking a spare charger with me every day.
Every time I have to do it, it’s been long enough ago that I’ve forgotten what I did before. Typically I dig out the printed manual I have for my hearing aid.
Hi Jordan,
One of possibility could be due to moisture degrading the receivers. There is no place for you to clean except drying in the dryer box. Moisture can erode the contact point of the receivers. Moisture moves in via the ear wax filter and damage the receiver head.
Good hearing ahead.
I am surprised that power domes work so well for you with your hearing loss.
Recently I lost patience waiting for the earmold and spent $45 on a 0P receiver (from 2M) before Easter.
With the P receiver, there is definitely a better, fuller sound. The ear canal is more occluded due to larger receiver (with power domes, as previously). I probably had the same problem as you, with peak clipping on the M receiver (gains were set to its limits).
However, the feedback threshold is still quite low. I am forced to use maximum overtuning (+12 dB), which is not recommended. I will provide screenshots from Target and a more thorough review later.
The “0” wire length is perfect, despite my >175 cm height. I can finally operate the rocker switch without wobbling the hearing aid to the sides. Directivity is better, too.
Overall, the Audeo Infinio Sphere 90 with the P receiver in power domes is better than the Audeo Paradise 90-RT with the P receiver in a slightly loose earmold with a 1 mm vent.
@JordanK, regarding the reset of HAs: IIRC, to reset them, pushing and holding isn’t enough; afterward, you have to put them in the charger for at least 0.5–1 minute.
This was exactly my issue. The M receivers were clipping and adding in too much compression. Going to the P receivers significantly improved the sound. Everything was much richer. And yes…the extra occlusion from the larger receivers was part of this. I have no feedback with double domes. My right ear is close to the limit as I sometime get a tiny bit of feedback if the dome slips a little out of my ear. I have to make sure my receivers are pushed into my ear and properly sealing.
My right hearing aid is working perfectly today and everything sounds slightly louder and richer. I must have had a deteriorating receiver.
I have P receivers too.
I was stubborn and resistant to change. Now I have my c-shells I’ve wished I did it sooner. The only concern I have is wax guard changing.
Biggest advantages:
sound is better!
more comfortable
I don’t keep pushin the receivers in to see if they are leaking. I bet I did that 20 times a day before c-shells.
My wife and I were invited to our best friend’s birthday party. We all went out to an early dinner at an Italian restaurant in downtown Toronto. It was a small, noisy restaurant and we were at a table with 10 people and lots of different conversations. As usual, the Sphere’s performed flawlessly during the dinner and I was able to participate in conversation without issues.
Following the dinner…we all walked over to the Telus Theatre at the Royal Conservatory of Music on Bloor Street for my first Jazz concert with the Sphere’s. Wasn’t sure what to expect and was a little apprehensive. Nothing worse than sitting like a deaf dummy in a concert for 2+ hours because everything sounds horrible. Plus…our hosts had purchased fun seats just behind the stage (see photo below) so anything was possible.
That being said…WOW! The music was awesome! AutoSense automatically flipped to the Music program and the music was rich and in tune. I think I was almost in a trance the whole night from being able to experience Music again at a live concert. My wife kept looking over at me and smiling because she could see I was enjoying the concert. I think this venue worked well for the Sphere’s because this was a brand new Classical music hall with small jazz groups performing. Sound was not obnoxiously loud and the P-Receivers really provided a dynamic listening experience.
Very pleased with how the Sphere’s performed last night. Who could have imagined a few years ago that I would be able to enjoy a night out at a noisy restaurant and a jazz concert. Here is the photo I promised.
A while back my Paradise P90Rs with power receivers and REM setup went to a concert in Oakville at The Big Hall downtown.
A Ukulele virtuoso was playing.
We were there early. His music was playing before the hall filled. It sounded so good. Autosense 4 had picked MUSIC. That had never happened before I saved the program, and went to the saved program. I didn’t want autosense to switch from
Music.
I have failed as a Ukulele player. The concert was an amazing experience. The best experience I’ve had with hearing aids in 20 years of experience.
Jake Shimabukuro Is an incredible performer. He’s a gentleman. He had a bass player too. It was amazing
Glad to read it seems to work well. So you have never considered earmolds? I know that YMMV, but in my case, the biggest power domes and P rec. seem unreliable despite my theoretically better hearing, so I am very surprised that it works in your case.
As you can see, I was in “calm” sitting alone at the dining room table. You will see whatever program autosense has chosen for you from the moment you started poking myphonak.
(From here you can make changes, and save as a new program, even if you didn’t make changes.)
