Jabra Enhance Pro – initial experience

Interesting … I others (including me) have had good sound from Jabra, so perhaps another great example of HAs all sound different to each user. But, this certainly sounds like an adjustment challenge which Costco should be able to resolve. Having said all of this, I used Jabra for 2 mos last fall, I liked the open feel to sound but eventually returned them and went back to using my KS9s.

Do you happen to live in an area with access to more than one Costco location? You could try a different HA center with different staff and see if they can determine anything new/different for you? I have been to Costco locations in other states while traveling, and they all have easy access to your records.

Many others have had good experience with Phillips from Costco. If you’re still in your 6mo trial period, then you could return Jabra and next try Phillips - see if this makes a positive difference for you.

Thanks, Hope they can fix the problem. I have an appointment in a week I’ll post after the visit.

I live in Canada and while there is a Costco about 24 miles from me in Michigan, I cannot use them as they don’t share records across the border. In the past I have been able to use US Costco in the south for warranty issues however. My closest Canadian Hearing Aid Center is 120 miles away. Given the issues with feedback I am sure I need to have the molds redone. When they were making the molds she kept reminding me to move my jaw and that may have resulted in the molds being loose. Certainly they are not as tight as my old molds. I will also insist on having all programs installed, especially those that focus on sound coming from the front. For me the Costco choice was made not only because of cost but also availability of service when I am south for the winter.

Do your Jabras have the microphone in the ear?

That can cause feedback and is why my Costco specialist didn’t give me the microphone in ear

No. Just the standard microphones.

For TV-watching: An alternative to a TV streamer is to use an external mic (the Jabra/ReSound brand is the Multi-Mic). . . .lay it near the audio output on your TV, connect to your HAs, sit back and relax! I see them for sale on eBay for $200 with offers at a lot less. Same cost as a TV streamer, but with many more excellent uses. I still rely on my Multi-Mic when walking in a windy location with a friend.

Took the five hour round trip yesterday. She is remaking the molds and reducing the vent size. Until they come in, she installed double domes. No feedback noted. Yay. It was driving me nuts in the car. Also had her install “Front Focus”, “Restaurant” and “Music”. Will know about the restaurant issues next time we go out to eat. However the “Music” program made that 26 speaker radio in my truck come alive on the way home. Hope the other programs work as well. They closed the freeway on the way home due to an accident and was on the road an extra hour. These new molds better work.

Interesting with your Music program. No matter what, music still sounds bad. Now streaming is a different story, i have that sounding really good, but i have a feeling my loss is more the culprit when listening to the radio or CD’s. My car stereo sounds better just use the All Around. Good luck with your new mold. Mine is over a year old now and is fitting more loosely than when i first got it. I also lost weight so maybe my ear hole changed?

Just ordered a Resound Streamer 2. Hope it’s as good as people say.

I have found TV streamers to be really useful, we can watch TV at an appropriate volume (for spouse) and with a streamer I can keep up well with dialog.

Definitely changes my interest with TV, as now I can hear and understand what is said! As with everything else with HAs, we really don’t know what we’re missing until we hear it

I am using KS9s at this point, and the Phonak streamer is fine. I turn it on when I need it, and turn it off when I’m finished using it. Range for BT connection is pretty good - works well across the (large) family room, but drops BT if I wander too far. At least it re-connects seamlessly when I come back to family room.

Resound streamer (with Jabra’s) was better – better range, better user experience. BT connection worked all around the house if I were to walk away. I used the app on my phone to turn streamer connection on/off with my HAs, just touched TV icon on the app to turn on and off and didn’t need to bother with switching device on/off all the time. These were only minor advantages over Phonak device, but I found overall user experience was better. Will be interesting to hear how this works out for you.

While doing some research regarding streamers I tried an experiment with my iPhone 14. I placed my iPhone next the TV speakers and used the phone as a remote microphone for my hearing aids. While not as elegant a solution as a dedicated streamer, for the first time in many years I actually understood every word of dialogue while watching a movie. Not sure why I never tried it before but it was definety “ear” opening. Looking forward to enjoying some of my favorite movies again once I get the streamer which should be here today or early next week.

Did you order from Costco or ?
If not from Costco they may not want to program your streaming setting. Some only adjust settings for the devices you purchase from Costco only. Just fyi

It’s been a while, but, IIRC, there is no setup other than pairing the device with your HA’s, which is easy to do. If you want to boost streaming bass from default settings, that’s another story. Back when I got my Streamer 2, I got it from Costco because their price was better than my audi’s. One doesn’t have to get one’s HA’s from Costco to order ReSound accessories. I got my Multi Mic there, too, for the same reason.

I downloaded the manual and it says nothing about programming the streamer. Just pairing with the hearing aids and the iPhone app will recognize it and you can adjust some of the settings. Will know soon and let you know how it works out. I purchased it from omnihearing.ca and they were 50 bucks cheaper than Costco with free shipping. I would have had to pick it up from Costco had I ordered it from them and I am getting tired of those four hour round trips.

I have one of these. It works out of the box although the pairing is a little more complicated if you have a Multimic too, as I do, because they need to be on separate radio channels.

You don’t need to alter the streaming gain handles to use the TV streamer, but you can do that if needs be, to change the way it sounds, and for that you need SmartFit or an audiologist with SmartFit.

The Mini-mic, Multi-mic, and TV Streamer 2 are not included with the up-to-4 programs. If you follow the instructions for pairing the TV Streamer, you’ll find you have a 5th program. If you then add a mic, you’ll find a 6th program after pairing.

I returned my rechargeable Jabra Pros and just got home with my replaceable battery (13) Jabra Pros. I paired the streamer about 5 minutes ago, and I’m watching the news as I type. :slightly_smiling_face:

Costco made the return process very easy, though I was told I might have trouble in the future if I returned the new ones - but I’m as sure as I can be that I’ll be happy with these. The batteries raise the cost a little bit, but I am very happy I’m no longer dependent on yet another device (the recharger). Not arguing anyone else should choose disposables - I’m just happy the options are available.

IIRC, you can grossly adjust bass, mid-tones, and treble within the Sound Enhancer features of the Smart 3D app. If I’m having trouble understanding speech because of background noise or music in a movie, I turn up treble and mid-tones to +4 to +6 and turn down base by -1 or -2 in the Sound Enhancer settings. Since ReSound streaming is mix-in, that also changes the relative tones of sound heard through both the external mics and streaming at the same time, IIRC.

You can indeed do this and I do confirm from personal experience that if has worked this way with Quattro, One and Omnia.

But I think not with LINX 3D. I remember well that we had an argument about this some years ago where you comprehensively proved all this to me (well it was before One or Omnia had launched, but they are the same).:grinning:

It is indeed a good way to play around with the settings.:+1:

However I’m not sure that it quite works this way for streamed audio from TV Streamer 2 and/or Multimic because they use the Streamer settings rather than the ambient settings as the base. I’m quite a few miles from my streamers at the moment so can’t check that point!

Last night when we watched a 1960’s movie streamed from a Blu-ray player hooked up to our TV, I checked it out with my Omnias, using an iPhone. You get the separate volume control settings for the streamer and your external mics, for each ear, if you want. And the Sound Enhancer shows up in the streaming program display. IIRC, I remember in the past checking that using Sound Enhancer affects the sound of both the external mics and the streaming.

I think the thing about paired accessories is the program interface and the background settings don’t have any relationship, as you say, to one’s regular programs such as All-Around, Front Focus/Ultrafocus, Music, etc. For instance, here are the “Comfort” settings in play in my All-Around program:

And here are the settings in play for streaming accessories like the TV Streamer 2 or the Multi Mic:

I guess the Phone Clip+ is a different streamed accessory all on its own. Just as for a phone paired with your HA’s, it’s truly “mixed-in” as its streaming is piped into whatever regular program is in use, IIRC. @david.hendon, you’re much more up on this stuff than I am. I’m off chasing other unicorns these days, like my new EV, which is like entering the Model T days, with all sorts of things not as convenient or as smooth, unfortunately, as for ICE vehicles. Hopefully, that sort of stuff will improve with time.

Did your molds come with a set of various diameter “plugs” to allow various reduction in the opening? Mine did (they were made by Resound) and this corrected the issue I was having.
