Jabra Enhance Pro – initial experience

My molds were also made by Resound but did not come with plugs. I did plug the vent with a round tooth pick but the feedback continued. I supect the biggest issue was the loose fit but some may have been do to the large vents as well. They are remaking them with smaller vents. Did you need to request the “plugs”?.

It seems you have already established that it’s not the vent sizing that’s currently causing your issues, and in fact it’s the poor fit which is quite common, some people only notice when they were chewing or something similar, this allowed the sound to establish a loop with the microphones, which is 'feedback"
So getting the molds redone with a smaller vent will at least have a “bonus effect” as in, your audiologist will be able to increase the gain, so remember that your HAs were programmed depending on the vent size, this all changes when it’s made smaller or bigger.

Chewing causing jaw movement will result a leak/feedback into the HA’s. Maybe the mold have to be remade in such a way it is deeper into the ear canal until the second bend. Or making the mold with mouth open or biting a piece of material. Check with the Audi.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes I’ve done something similar, just opening and closing your mouth as the mixture is setting.

I’m not using moulds currently because power domes seem to mostly work ok for me at the moment.
But my last moulds were made to go really deep and had to be made several times because Resound didn’t believe how long we wanted them. And mine were made with my mouth open and biting on something.

Resound moulds usually come with a vent. Resound supplies separately a set of vent reducers and blockers that is just cast in one piece in soft plastic and the vent you want can be just torn off from the rest. They cost nearly nothing so just get your Audi to give you a couple. No doubt other manufacturers are similar.

Can molds be used in the ear–attached to the newer RIE style aids–that have a wired connection, rather than an air tube?

Yes absolutely no problem, the RIC type are the most common type sold now, they have receiver’s for mild to profound losses.

No- I did not request the plugs. They came on a small plastic “tree”. I have received them twice on two different mold. There were about 10 to 12 of them. They came with various sized openings all the way down to no opening at all. I found that s smaller opening helped my feedback a good bit. Goal is to have the largest opening you can while also stopping the feedback. A little difference cn mean a lot.
The solid plug was too much. Made my mold feel like a bottle stopper. You might ask your HA fitter about these, as most customers no nothing about these and don’t want them. They may have some laying around, or could get some at no charge for you.

Thats because i was refering to adjusting the programming for your tv streaming in SmartFit. When i had Jabra’s i got a streramer from ebay for abouy $100 and Costco would not increrase the low freqs or do any adjustment within SmartFit because they said i didnt buy the streamer at Costco.

I received the streamer today and so far seems just fine. I do use the bass boost button for movies.

Glad it’s working for you. I find that it works so well with my closed molds that i can increase the low freqs and still comprehend dialog prefectly.

I like that I can adjust the volume of the external microphones relative to the streamer. Looking forward to getting my molds back.

Yes, i like that feature to.
At some point you may want to look into self programming. I have found its great for tinkering with adjustments that an audi just doesnt have time for. And you can save any settings at any time so no way to screw things up because you just go back to previous adjustments and can lable them.
Best wishes

Point me in the right direction in terms of equipment and software.

The hardware you would need is a Noahlink Wireless device. I got mine on ebay for about $120. The software download is available on this site, search, Resound SmartFit download and request a link. Then go to… audiologyonline.com and register. You can take short free courses on SmartFit, Resound Omina (same as your Jabra’s), and basic programming. Everything you would use is the same thing your audi uses. You can save your initial Costco programming and then experiment around with different setting and boost different freqs, etc. The only downside is the Costco audi will know you are doing your own adjustments because the software keeps a log and i havent found a way to hide or delete previous adjustments. Some audis are ok with that, other not so keen.

Forgot to mention the Noahlink connects to a PC or laptop to wirelessly adjust your aids. Apple computers will not work with the Noahlink, just fyi

Mac’s are fine so long as it’s not ARM based, Intel core is no problem.

Just my luck. I have everything Apple.

Got the streamer working with my two TVs that only use the built in speakers. Plug and play. The main TV hooked to my home theater system via HDMI was a bit more of a challenge. Issues getting the digital cable to receive audio from the TV. I spent quite a bit of time hunting in the menu system of my Sony Bravia and finally changed the Digitial Audio Output to “Auto” and that did the trick. I was going to resort to a HDMI audio extractor but happy I finally figured it out. Now both wife and I can have the TV as loud as we each like. Going to keep my eye out on eBay for some used streamers as the hearing aids can support three streamers. This way I won’t need to keep moving the streamer. We watch the same TV in the morning, and separate TVs in the evening. Wife happy and all is right with the world. LOL
