I still cannot understand speech properly

This just shows how individual our hearing loss is.

I find NAL 2 loud and unpleasant where NAL 1 is clear, quiet enough, not over bearing and Bluetooth is really good.

How do we determine which method was used by a hearing aid practitioner or audiologist?

Is it available in a report they can provide?

edit;
It seems to me that it may be key to improving how my hearing aids perform for me.

My Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s are so much better! I can hear! Yet that is based upon a ā€œquick fitā€ using the old audiogram. There’s no REM and no fine tuning yet.

(Little voice on my shoulder says, ā€œDon’t touch them! They work!ā€)

I have iMac 2010 too. I boot it to Windows with BootCamp, then I can use any fitting software without any problems.

@Lostdeaf

I really appreciate your response. I’m having problems I can’t use the mail program. Google says my computer is too old. Or that’s how I interpret it.

BootCamp
I shall take a look…but I’m computer illiterate. I’m old.

Found it.

It’s in this post…

I have great respect for the new hearing aid practitioner.

I hope you now getting better service than when you wrote this.

I think someone that hasn’t retested you can’t give you the improvements you need.

REM for speech comprehension makes a significant difference imho.

When I switched to Matthew Allsop with my KS10s (P90s) he retested, cleaned my ears of wax, suggested custom molds, reprogrammed, he uses NL-2 and REM also and it was a world of difference.

Good luck

Out of curiosity - does REM was performed only for Calm program and therefore the rest were based on Calm? Or there was different REM for Speech in Noise or streaming etc.?

Until now, including today, you had 2 appointments only?

Interesting, it suggest additionally about REM effectiveness.

Yep but I have been a patient of Matthew’s for a few years with KS10s.

I have been astounded with the accuracy of the Infinios out the box (after retest, REM obs)

Today we made some adjustments for music (through Bluetooth). Matthew did me a music programme for first fit as he has before (that’s how we met). When I challenged him to show me the value :+1:. The music through the aids was better than the Bluetooth streaming music setting so he has fixed that.

So far been listening to Linkin Parks new album on Matthews recommendation and it’s excellent.

He tweaked my Roger setting for a little bit of volume and a little adjust on car (to quieten road noise) and all good. In fact it’s a bit disappointing as I like seeing him and I probably won’t now to my annual checkup.

I have always written about my experiences with my visits to see Matthew on LinkedIn so feel free to read them there :+1:
