tenkan this morning i tried to put my program back into these and believe it or not it will not take. so tomorrow in the morning i’m going to delete att the sessions and just start another new client audiogram. i had a warning about conflicting audiograms today in the fitting program and so i used the program advice to resolve them and that put the audis audiogram in in them, mine is gone.

these are the hardest aids i have dealt with the moxi and phonak all seem to work better for me anyway for adjusting them. plus these are hard to connect to the fitting program i have to turn them on and off everytime i go to tweak them.

i have my audiogram on paper this time and the setting i put in them, so outside of time it take again, this time is should be easier.

also the audi does not care for them either. but they like phonak also. thanks

Ok sounds like a plan, yeah it’s unfortunate you can’t find a fit your happy with, DIY… it’s a long term relationship ; )
once you start your new fitting just try to stick with it and only make small adjustments at a time, as you use Connexx more often the more you get to understand how it works, adjustments will become more apparent, since your audiologist is ok with you trying DIY, you’ll be able to at least ask about anything in office, stuff like custom molds,REM etc

yes tomorrow i will delete all those settings and just start over. i put the phonak aids back in for now. i had it good until the audi hooked up and somehow put her fitting back in. and this morning i tired to put my fitting back in and it just would not go. i will let you know how that goes. thanks

ok tenkan 3-30-23 i started out again with new client installed the audio gram and this time i did instu fit also. used nal-nl2 formula and left everything els to teh fitting for this fit. i did not yet turn on compression so i can see how the program sets them for a fit, if i have to turn compression on i can later. i get in the right ear a buzz at some sounds, the best i can describe it is it gets a sound level and my ear makes a click sound it is not hurting my ear drum. kind of like if you pinch your tongue to the back of your throat and you get that sound in your ears.

anyway i will let this run and for now and make any added tweaks during the day if needed. now in the basic tuning it set the the master gain to 20db both sides, the other clients that is 18R-16L and i see one at 20R-22L looking at my audiogram the L is a bit worse than the R so that may be the reason there. so if they are to loud i can try turning the master gain down 1 number at a time.

also i did in-situ this time. if you think i sould take that out let me know as i have both audiogram and in-situ on the audiogram see photos
audiogram

in-situ

thanks

ok i took ou tthe in-situ for now and i still ge the buzz so i may turn down the gain now

Would you be able to guide me through a formula if I could get my hands on the Compass Program for my Widex Moment 440’s? ~ I recently walked away from my audiologist and purchased a pair online. (No matter what I expressed to her, she just looked at me like I was an old lady (71), that didn’t need the ability to hear music, and I produced about 4 dozen cd’s with my name on the back! I’ve never been more frustrated in my life! ~ Thank you.

I can only try, just remember what works for one ( me) may not work for everyone, check your PM.

well tenkan i have messed with those signia a long time and unless i can get the bluetooth to work a bit better and get them not to go loud and then soft i think they will go on the shelf for spares i have the exact same audiogram in them as i do for the phonak and this morning i put the phonak back in and they are so much better, does anyone know if i can send tham back to signia for then to send me a new pair? if i keep going to the audi then that visit is on my dime now even if she returns them and i got get them it is on my dime. i’m think i would like to get another pair of phonak in a higher tech level but what i need to do is find out how to tell the year they are made. does anyone have that info? thanks bp

What is the exact model name of your hearing aids?

Is it Pure AX5 ( with 312 batterie) ?

Signia Insio Charge&Go AX, Signia Motion X, Signia Pure AX, Signia Active models were released in 2021

yes they are from tru hearing as part of my medicare advantage plan they provide 1 pair free at least every few years the fitting program calls them pure 5ax 312 p 120/63 and as you know i have had a time even programming these. i turned off the speech and noise management turned on and off the frequency compression it is now off. played with the bluetooth audio streaming. turned on and off the smart optimiser but i do not see that doing anything but for tracking use.

the fitting program calls them th advanced 6 ric p (120/63) if any of that helps. this is why i posted about anyone having these aids and having issues with the volume getting loud and then soft and the bluetooth. yesterday for S/g i put a radio app on my phone and the left ear turned on and off during the hour i tested the bluetooth with a radio. and then both would turn off and sometimes they would get louder not so much that it bother my ears but louder.

that is why i ask if anyone happens to know if i was to email signia if i could send them in for a different pair? i guess i can contact tru hearing but the last time i wanted to return my first pair i had to take them to the audi. and like i said if i start going back it iwll be my 90$ a visit trips. and i would rather jus tset them on the shelf before i start paying 90$ a visit to tune in new aids now. if this is what i can expect from signia then i will stay with phonak but i need to find out how to tell the year they were made so i can ebay some. i no it is in the numbers in the battery door but not sure how to interpret them. thanks

So they’ll still be under warranty, as it’s 3 years from time of sale no t from when they were manufactured, get them to send them back for service/repair, there is a way to tell with the serial numbers, I’ve forgotten how it works tho! but anyways just send them in to see if they can sort that bluetooth issue out for you.

i sent a email to the tru hearing company to see if they can do that for me. the audi can but i’m now on my dime not the insurance so if i can’t send them back i will put them on the shelf and use them for backup just in case the phonaks go bad.

does anyone happen to know how to tell the years of the phonak brand using the number in the battery door area? is the first 2 digits or the last 2? or do they move them around? i’m thinking it is the first 2 digits. thanks

Yes the first two digits are the year of manufacture.

i thought it was but wanted to make sure. i may be ebay a pair if i can’t get these signia aids figured out. i did a bit more tweaking and they seem to be doing better. turned of the auto settings and things seem a bit better but time will tell. and for some reason the compression get turned off? i have no idea how i missed that. but i turned it back on and things sound better again. not asking to much now to repeat words. thanks

This is related to music but it helped me to have a better idea of what compression does:

ok i have a question that tenkan or pvc may be able to answer look at these fine tuning clips left is phonak using the adaptive phonak digital formula right is signia using the nal-nl2 formula the same audiogram and the same phonak calls it sound recover on left and signia calls it frequency compression on the right and see if you can tell me why the phonak aids sound so much better?

You have answered your own question! Different fitting formulas!

Different fitting formulas sound very different!

yes but on the signia if i use the signia fit ax5 formula the compression is about the same, but the amplitude up to 1k is a flat line and using the nal-nl2 i get a bit of gain in that range.
but in the target program i have quite a difference in the gain across the board, and i see it is a flat line up to 750 htz. so why might it be so different. i can hear so much better with the phonak aids than the signia aids? just wondering why that would be that way? is it just the devices themselves that are working differently internally? just wondering why that is? if i change the phonak to nal-nl2 it moves the higher frequency line more to the right of the graph. but with the signia it lowers the left of 1k to 0. thanks

i have had closed domes on them now for months. the feedback may be doing that but it works. also i had an audi view my phonak aids last november and take the fitting from them and he told me to switch over to the power receivers and closed domes. so i put power receivers and closed domes and recalculated for the changes. they sound real good for me, but i got these new aids and the first set i had to switch ears as they programmed wrong, i think the audi selected the wrong sides for the fittings. so i sent them back and then went to a different office and they got me the same devices again and fitted them and i could not use them. i had so many issues, so pvc helped me get the fitting program for the signia aids and i entered the audiogram and went step by step thru that program and i have had issues all day long but i did finally get them useable. but today i just happen to notice i had the phonak fitting program still running and looked at the fine tuning and if showed the bluetooth audio + mic and bluetooth call dect _ mic so that is why i asked. and when i went to see why it shows i have the audeo v30 aids as my aids, so when i look at what the audeo v30 has for features i do not see bluetooth. it is a bit confusing there for sure. if you see the photo i posted you see the under instruments v30 312t so when i looked them up inthe hearing aid section it tell me these do not have bluetooth. go figure. thanks
