Costco Kirkland Signature 6.0

I picked up my KS6’s today. Wearing them right now. They sound great. The Kirkland Choice app is great too. The iphone has a lot of native functionality (volume controls, program switching, streaming device switching) that I wasn’t aware of. It even has a “live listen function” which turns the phone into a remote mic. Also the native software can be accessed by a triple click on the iphone home button. Very cool. The Kirkland Choice app adds some features like the “finder” function and bass and treble adjustment. I’m still investigating the TV streamer ver. 2 and remote mic.

are we able to purchase the remote separately???

I believe so. However, I would buy the phone+ unit instead. A bit more but it does allow you to adjust volume and program. The remote makes a good down payment on the more useful item. I think that might work with the Android program later by providing an up to date bluetooth connection.

My Dish Network receiver (Hopper) has Bluetooth built in to enable streaming to audio devices. Does anyone know if the KS6 will allow direct Bluetooth reception?

I have had my 5.0s for about 5-6 weeks now. They work pretty good, though the left one might be having some trouble. I sometimes get a crackling noise from it, like there may be a loose connection.
I really like the remote, and don’t have or desire an Iphone… So if I were to decide to go to the 6.0s, what would I be gaining/losing?

Is a remote confirmed as a option? What is the cost?

You might have a chance with the phone clip plus that handles regular bluetooth devices – up to either 4 or 6 but only 2 at a time.

My local Costco said they expect to start selling the KS 6 sometime next week, so I set an appointment for next Friday to get the hearing test and order the aids. They did say they expect to stock them in the store, so I may be able to pick them up then too.

I’m already planning to swap out my TV Streamers for TV Streamer 2’s, as I read somewhere that the KS 6 supports only the later ReSound Unite devices. I already have the phone clip + and the newer remote that I use with my KS 5’s.

I’d think you only gain faster processing chips and the newer Binaural Directionality II algorithm. I don’t know how much improvement you’d notice in sound quality or speech recognition, but I’ll find out soon. I’ve been wearing KS 5’s since they were released, and am looking forward to trying the new iPhone features and app.

I’m certain you can buy the remote separately, but don’t know the details on pricing.

Just put in my KS6 order $1799.99
they received them and they are in-store. Next is fitting appointment, 2 weeks, they have two rooms and can’t keep up.

I have an appointment to try the KS6’s on 21AP. I recognize battery life depends upon a lot of factors, but I would appreciate your subjective opinions and real life experiences on battery life. Is battery life reasonable or terrible?

All 312 batteries, very heavy audiobooks streaming:
Up to 3 yrs ago, using Bernafon Verte I was getting 6+ days
Resound Forza last 3 years, exactly 4 days
KS6 is next week, ?? Days

the size of the KS6 is the same as the Forza. Both bigger than the Lynx 9, so they could gone with the 13.

According to the manual on the ks6userportal site, “Your instrument has a fully automatic volume control. Therefore, it should not be necessary to control thevolume manually.” So no user control of volume at all? The Smart App is not compatible with my Android phone.

You can use a remote or the Phone Clip + to adjust the volume.

Yup, that’s been bothering me too Eek. Should the AVC have a nervous breakdown or if the lack of control can’t share with the aids’ “learning programming” our wishes, looks like the base configuration leaves one SOL.

I have considered the possibilities:

  1. Buy the remote but you have limited functionality.
  2. Buy the phone clip + which gives you the volume control and should/might/maybe will give -- beyond phone connect -- access to an enhanced app. It should be capable, if the Apple relationship/contract allows it to happen.
  3. Try to use the android app for the KS5 era aids that gives volume and limited enhanced features relating to streaming. At least, this wouldn't add a cost.

I’d currently choose 2 if there will be a full interface. Even if I could find a cheap, used iPhone, I’d have to change providers and I have 18 months of already paid for use with Trackphone that I’d be throwing away.

One heck of a benefit to Apple. You and me? Not so much.

I ordered my KS6s today and will pick them up on April 18.

Did you get to try a pair? If so, what was your initial impression?

So why is it KS6 available in some costso and some not??? :frowning:

Paddy,

in in my local Costco the HIS’s are each spending better part of a day training to fit the new KS6. They are booked solid as it took me a month to get in for my first appointment. So, I suspect scheduling training may be a good part of the delay in availability.

I am currently in the trial period with the KS5s. I asked at my local Costco in Australia about the KS6s and they said the staff are going on training for them in early May and they will be available in store by the end of the month. I was told there would be no problem with exchanging my KS5s for them. They don’t yet know what price they will be selling at in Australia. I am wondering if there will be a price increase compared to the USA as the Australian dollar has weakened significantly in the last year. I wont mind paying extra if they offer an improvement over the KS5s. I realise they do not come with a remote control and I currently don’t have an iPhone. I do however have the Phone Clip + and I can either use that as the R/C or the Resound app on my Android phone.

Does anyone know if the KS5-era Android app will work with the KS6? The new Smart App is unavailable for my slightly older Android OS.
