Bluetooth LE audio

:+1: I’ve also tried the “live listen” on iphone then putting phone close to the laptop speakers but never really found that to do much …I may dig around to see if I have a small speaker I can hook up to laptop as well…

I would compare the bandwidth of 150 Hz to 10 kHz specified in the technical document as that is most likely for the audio input via the 3.5 mm stereo audio input. Also, the telecoil input has poorer low frequency response (400 Hz). There is also a footnote: “Actual audio performance depending on client’s hearing aids.” For many users with high frequency loss, the performance will likely depend on the output of the hearing aid receiver rather than the device (Clip or TV Adapter) transmitting to the aids.

I bought the FMA120 dongle, but I’m clueless… plugged it into laptop, downloaded the “FLooCast” app to laptop … but now what? It shows firmware update available, asking me to “unzip” a file, etc … way too technical for me… it doesn’t show my aids to pair… I’m sure I’m doing something(s) wrong … their support hasn’t been too helpful…

For unzip perform a click with the right mouse button on the downloaded zip-file and select “Extract All…”
Then click “Extract”

Then the zipped files will get extracted to the same location as your zip-file (e.g. your download folder).

After extraction open the extracted folder and double click the setup file to install the firmware update.

Sorry @nedunla I am talking about a Logitech Bolt mouse dongle - its just a receiver for a Logi mouse instead of using native Bluetooth.

sorry, I got confused with all the replies, etc … I finally (several hours I’ll never get back) figured out the “zip/unzip” thing for FMA120 … upgraded to 1.0.8.8 firmware that is supposed to support Oticon Intent , but they still won’t pair… I have bluetooth turned off on my phone (I think I read somewhere you need to do that) but no luck…

Thanks much! I did finally figure it out (several hours I’ll never get back) , but hearing aids (Oticon Intent) still won’t pair with FMA120 … FlooGoo support said it should pair with Windows computers since 2000 … I’m waiting to hear back from them on any next steps…

I thought you had to be on Windows 11 to use Bluetooth LE Audio, I could be wrong… Are older versions of Windows supported?

Well, here’s what the FlooGoo support told me about that… Still no luck… I turned bluetooth off on phone, and even unplugged TV adapter … I still think it has something to do with Bluetooth LE audio, which my laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 5) does NOT support …I asked support if my laptop might need additional drivers, etc …

“Once paired, you can connect the FMA120 to most computers manufactured after 2000, and your hearing aids will receive audio from the PC without the need for additional drivers.”

You may also attach a screenshot of the FlooCast settings from your laptop so I can review them."

On what firmware version are your INTENT aids ?

The latest firmware for Intent is 1.1.0

My Intents are still 1.0 …guess that’s the last possibility - but it costs me $100 to go to audiologist for update, so I was holding off… I might ask her if she thinks that would solve the issue… I can ask FlooGoo support as well but not sure they would know…

It appears that INTENTS may need 1.1 firmware… mine are still 1.0 - FlooGoo support sent me screenshot of a user that has successfully paired the dongle with their laptop and their aids are INTENT 4 ; 1.1 firmware… I’ll check with audiologist to see if she has the firmware available and might consider spending the $$$ to get latest firmware - I’m curious to see if that will work with the FMA120 with my laptop …

Yes, BLE audio is not supported on Windows 10 and older.

Compatability with certain devices is still rough around the edges though.

I was able to pair the FMA120 with my Philips 9050 but only if they were right next to the adaptor (within 20cm). After the initial pairing they worked at normal distances away.

Thanks… I’m finally going to audiologist today to get firmware update for Oticon Intents… I’m anxious to see if they will pair with FMA120 … I realize they won’t give me exactly what I’m looking for (something to enable audio to go to my hearing aids as well as to other people - like the TV adapter does) but since my laptop does NOT support LE audio, interested to see if the FMA120 gives me that capability …

I think this is a key thing to remember if having difficulty pairing. Move the hearing aids right next to the device you’re trying to pair with. I’ve forgotten this a few times.

Here’s the current list from Oticon, as of Oct 2024. Pixel 7 has been added:

Of course, those models have been ASHA compatible all along.
The 7 and 7 pro are not LEA compatible, though.
They must support HAP 1.0 to be LEA.

Apparently, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro have been updated, as of Oct 2024:

If they tested them and they are LEA, that’s great.
I guess it means Google hasn’t updated their chart:
