Still first time trial.
Talking with my wife about the sound of my voice.
Without the HA she says it’s deep, gravely, normal level, can totally understand what I say.
Wearing the HA, the pitch/tone changes to higher, a lot softer, has to work at times to hear/understand it.
Common?
Rexton Bicore
Open dome right, tulip (?) left.
@user97: It’s unclear to me which one of you is wearing the devices.
Hi there, the hearing aids can’t change the tone of your voice, it’s the occlusion effect that makes it sound different to you, not to anyone else? But it’s something you’ll need to get used sometimes, the left side with tulip dome will be the obvious culprit.
Did your audiologist set the OVP (own voice processing) as this can help with this quite a bit, I think Rexton call it MyVoice.
What I find happens to me is my hearing aids make me sound like I am talking louder than I am. So I start talking softer and lower. This could be what is happening to you.
Clarify…
I wear the device.
I never alluded to the HA changing my voice, I naturally change my voce, probably like you say the occlusion.
But my voice, the person wearing the hearing aid, sounds different now to people who do not wear them. Not just softness, but my tone/pitch/frequency
Yes, i agree, but not just volume
I wear ITE Oticons and my son’s voice becomes too deep and louder with my HAs. I must always ask him to speak softer.
Pending on a person’s hearing loss their voice can be loud, mumbling, slurring words etc. without hearing aids.
The hearing aids should correct the sound the person wearing aids hears. So it’s very possible for someone to speak softer or with more clarity once fitted with hearing aids or CI.
My family and friends have told me my speech clarity has dramatically improved since getting CI’s.
