That is hard to answer without seeing your audiogram. Domes look simple but they are one of the more complex areas of a fitting. If you have low frequency loss you need a small vent or closed dome so the hearing aids can deliver enough low frequency power. The other independent issue is feedback. If you have a high loss in the 2-4 kHz range you can be susceptible to feedback. An open dome or large vent can let those frequencies escape (because they are being amplified a lot), and get back to your microphones on your hearing aids. When the loop set up that causes feedback – ringing or whistling sound. The other issue is leakage. If the fittings do not fit in your ear canal well, the vent size becomes moot. You can be leaking sound around the fitting more than through the intentional vent.

I will try and get an audiogram on Friday-I understand both f your concerns in seeing one–I will be back with one–TY
The graph below shows how different fitting types provide more or less protection against feedback. The lower the curve the poorer the protection. You can see that all types dip around 3 kHz. However the open dome provides the least protection, and in the types tested the unvented sleeves the most. But if you do not have a high loss at 3 kHz more protection against feedback is often not needed. So it really comes down to your loss and potential feedback issues. If you insist on a fitting that is more open than what you need, feedback most likely results, and the only way the fitter can address it is to turn down the gain in the 3 kHz zone. This of course compromises your hearing correction.
Here is a link to the full article. It is a Signia article and of course they are promoting their click sleeves, which seem to be unique to them and Rexton. I don’t think Phonak has anything similar. But, they all have a range of fittings from closed to open and in between.
Thank You for that info–I am seeing the fitter today and am gong discuss that plus get my audio graph from hiim
I just noticed that the app for the Marvel (MyPhonak) got an update a few days ago. The app for the KS9 is still on the original version (from July)
Not getting my hopes too high, but target is downloading target 6.1.7.
So this is you doing an update to a new version of Target? (Rather than Costco updating?)
Yes don’t have time to look at it now.
Looks like a minor bug fix update. No new firmware. LOL
OK, 7 months later… did this eventually happen? I heard it’s now possible to pair with 2 devices ? Nevermind, I just caught up with the other thread, and I can see it’s now possible! That’s great news.
