VA turnaround time

Got my new Phonak Spheres ordered with the VA on the 1st of this month (May). The audiologist said it’ll take about a month. Interestingly in the past, it only took about two weeks to get a new set. Anyone know why these would take so long (it’s already near the end of the month)? Also, coming up on 2 weeks for an old set I had the VA send in to be repaired.

Probably a high demand for the Spheres.

I have been geting my aids from the VA for 20 years and the tirn around has averaged 6 weeks

I ordered on the 5th. Pick up tomorrow (27th). Probably could have had them a week ago if not for appointment slot availability. I thought it was two week delivery for the aids and maybe another week for the molds. I would have had my spheres last November if they’d have been on the contract…

Would you happen to know if the spheres need “microphone attenuation” set in Target at -6db so there is no ambient background noises during phone calls?

I would think attenuating the mic inputs would make you hard to hear to the call partner. But I have no experience in that.

Probably has something to do with cutting people from the VA positions. This is along with cutting Social Security employees and saving money. DODGE strikes again.

My clinic hasn’t cut medical staff at all. I was told the cuts were from management. I haven’t seen and change in service. In fact our clinic has added to it’s medical staff.

For the Phone Call + Mic program, the -6 dB is the maximum it can go for attenuation.

Was that a.month before she got them or a month before you got them?

Got my repaired P90s in today finally. Tried to pair them with MyPhonak and kept getting an error (right HA) that they need to be “fitted.” Evidently when these were reworked, no programming was put inside! So I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my private audi to fix this. Has anyone had this issue before?

Mine have always gone through the audiology dept first before I get them back, so I don’t know if the factory programmed them or the audiology folk at the hospital.
