Univox tcoil question

My father has the Oticon More HA’s. He also has a Univox DLS-50 t-coil system connected to an older tv with audio cables. He just got a new tv that only has HDMI connections. Is there a way to connect the new tv to the univox box to get the audio? I would need HDMI converted to a 3.5mm jack. All the boxes I see on Amazon are not very clear if this would work. Or should I go another way to connect him to the TV?

Ok no one has answered so I’ll take a shot at it.
Are you sure the TV does not have an optical connection?
If not look up earc and arc. Your TV should have that. I believe you need that to do what you want to do.
I looked at a couple of HDMI to 3.5mm converters.
They should work.
HDMI in 3.5mm out.

You need an HDMI Audio Extractor available on Amazon. These take an HDMI input and then output the audio part to optical/RCA/3.5mm

thanks. it has an optical out, but it is used for another device. it also has an hdmi for arc. I will try the HDMI audio extractor, but it seemed like a lot of them on amazon said something about not being for audio for arc. I will try one of those.

Then there’s also the option of an optical splitter. Or wherever that first connection is going to maybe it has an audio out.

You can get an optical splitter.
There are people on this forum that use that.
One I looked at had optical on it.
I believe they make a straight optical to 3.5mm adapter.

You might consider the Oticon TV Adapter 3. It has a built-in optical splitter and the Adapter would provide stereo sound directly to the aids where the loop system is probably mono. Plug the existing optical cable into the output optical port on the Adapter and the new optical cable that comes with the Adapter into the input port on the adapter and the optical port on the new TV. I’ve used a TV Adapter 3 with both a TV and a computer (optical input). Worked fine with More and now Real aids.

Yes, a loop and telecoil setup is inherently mono. Two ear hooks can act like stereo though (as long as the aid settings separate the two).
But yes those tv connectors are great hearing aid accessories. They can be used anywhere you have audio out and usb power.

That would be my next step if I can’t get the tcoil to work.Thanks.
