I would try out that Panasonic before plunking down the cash. Take the TV Connector there and have them test it. If you can hear it through the aids and the room can hear it “normally” then good. At this point I’m doubting if from what I saw in the manual.
For headphone jacks: usually that would trigger turning off the speakers.
Actually the Toshiba manual seems to read that the only way to use the TV speakers along with another output source is only with the headphone out. Then it shows an option in the settings to allow TV speakers or not
Not that I want to wear headphones but I brought up ‘headphones’ on the sound menu and it briefly flashed ‘headphones only’ in the option box. In ‘advanced settings’ there was a balance bar indicating how much should go to the 'phones and how much to the room, I presume. I reckon the Toshiba would work if I wore a pair; ‘phones only’ probably meant it knew there were no phones in the jack-point.
I’ve already paid but if it doesn’t work I can return the set to the local store get my money back. The Panasonic was obviously not in store when I bought it - I’d taken the Phonak connector with me in case. The guy said no TV in stock would work for me.
It certainly sounds worth a shot ! Alas, I don’t know what a stereo lead looks like, nor what the headphone socket looks like. Can I have a clue ? Dinosaur talking here.
Not noticed any lip-sync issues with a splitter @maggieandjimpepin…… As far as I am aware, the Toslink optical connection, is the best way to connect your sound-bar, or indeed the TV Connector, it is a digital connection, so therefore, there should be no lip-sync issues…… Cheers Kev
Here is the issue you may face with the audio cable (“Headphone” jack) with a phonak tv connector. If the volume of the audio program is too low for long enough, it will assume end of program and disconnect until volumes come up again. I found this intolerable. It just takes too long to wake up again and reconnect the HAs. I felt like I was getting jerked around.
Yes, you would need a 3.5 cable to run from the TV to your streamer. Headphones only mentioned because that 3.5 outlet seems to be the only output that will allow TV speakers at the same time
Really? You mean you don’t have a box full of various and sundry audio cables and connectors and adapters like I do?
Or a junk drawer with a cable that might have come with a phone or for your car and you never used it and maybe even wondered what it’s for like I do?
Optical splitter into surround system+ TV connector. Zero lag. Zero lipsync problems. Works brilliant for exactly what u need… normal hearing folks listen to surround sound system while me with P90s listen to it directly. Actually I adjust the fade so I barely hear the aids and use the surround sound. Works perfect. And if i want to watch silently (wife sleeping) I can mute the surround system and then only audio is coming thru the aids. Perfect.
Thanks for the warning. Sometimes I’m watching stuff the wife doesn’t like (football, cricket, etc - unbelievable !) so I’d be turning the room volume down so she can’t hear it. I suppose I need at least some volume to avoid your problem ? It’s a separate room and I can close the door. What do you think ?
