We just published this article with tons of great tips. However, I’d like to hear from you guys. Did we miss anything? Thanks!
I like the article.
Well done.
Thank you @Raudrive … The genesis for this concept was actually an audiologist sharing the Airtag / Otoclip idea, which I thought was brilliant
I have found that with my custom ear molds, which are full skeleton, it is almost impossible to have them fall out of my ears. And i change glasses multiple times every day.
Having gone through a lost hearing aid with my wife’s KS9 aids the process of finding it was very similar to what is said in this article.
Scary and rewarding once found.
What a well written and detailed informative article!
One thing I noticed that could be expanded on so as not to be overlooked:
"Now, if I take them out downstairs,” says Rosemary, “I keep them in a little pot and upstairs in another little pot by my bed; I don’t leave them anywhere else.”
My partner takes her HAs in and out and on and off through out the day. She has Phonak KS 10s and the battery does not last all day with all the hour plus long calls she make. She has cases in every room and in her back pack, as she walks and talks. She always puts them in a convenient case, so she only needs to look at her cases to find where she left them.
Anyhow, she is not the only one who needs to do this and I think your short paragraph could be expanded on.
Again, what a great article. I learned a lot. Thank you .
I never take my aids off and set them down any where but in the charger. If i am going to get a haircut i take the the smart charger with me and give my aids additional charger while getting my haircut.
A really great article. Sure learned a lot. Now I’m wondering if you can put an Apple AirTag directly on to the Roger Select? Would the magnet in the AirTag do anything to the Select?
Also, when getting my aids, I was asked if I wanted that “guard” that goes around the outter section of the ear. I don’t recall what she called it. It fits right around the inner part of the ear and keeps the aid in the ear. She said a lot of folks like it, expecially for sports.
I wish they would make hearing aids in more colors. I wouldn’t mind some nice green or blue ones, so tired of the beige… They would be a lot easier to find too!
Now I just default to the darkest gray available, or black. Makes them even harder to find though.
That’s a question I have also. Can you put an air tag on the Select?
I have been wearing aids for 19+ years and never lost a hearing aid. The key is simple, put them in your ears when you get up and leave them there until you are going to bed. Have a set location the put them when you aren’t wearing them at night. It doesn’t matter if you are traveling, camping, staying with family or friends, always have a set location to put your aids when you take them off for the night. Yes I am talking about be disciplined, and I am talking about wearing them from the time you get up until you go to bed.
Wish I had a smart charger.

Great idea!
That a great article on how to find hearing aids. I love the mention of pets, and think about my mangled tube compliments from my kitten at the time.
Here in Australia a lot of Audiologists are now encouraging us to have our devices added to our house contents insurance. And too insure them under this policy as a “portable medical device”. Meaning these expensive little aid are covered world wide when lost. Someone who is bimodal is walking around with $14+ K AU on their ears.
Amen, brother. A little discipline goes a long way.
I’ve lost one twice in the last 25 years and I consider that pretty good. Once, I took it out to put earbuds in when I went for a walk. The second time, I got new aids and I think one was a little loose. I went to the beach, laid down on the sand and went for a walk. When I left the park, I found it was gone. Went back and retraced my steps both times but never found them. Now my ENT has suggested taking one aid out when I am at home to dry out my ear since I get so much wax.
I have been wearing aids for 65+ years and never lost a hearing aid. Put them in your ears when you get up and leave them there until you are going to bed. I only take them out to shower.
My first several pairs were red. I loved them! Once I lost one on the walking trail (paved). A few minutes later, sitting in the car, I realized the loss. Rushed back to where I’d walked, and there it was! Being red it was easy to see. My first hearing-tech, when I requested red, said she sold them only to parents of HOH kids, who needed to “find them on the playground”.
I am interested in the Phonak L90 but I have to admit its 80% because of the green color availability.
I believe Costco replaces lost HAs. Once for left and once for right. Another reason to buy from Costco.
Are there providers in the US who don’t include loss/damage, once per side for two or three years? Costco has no fee for the replacement or programming the replacement aids, but is this otherwise not the same as other providers?
