The hearing of my right ear has deteriorated some over the last year or so.
I find it less satisfying to listen to orchestral classical music from speakers for some time now because the right HA (Resound Linx Quattro) have a tendency to sound distorted.
I have been using these HAs for 6 years now, having had adjustments done a few times to get more high frequencies from the right one.
Twice I’ve had to have them repaired. Both times what I got in return was a brand new set of HAs (same brand/model). Still - it is no good for orchestral classical music at a sound level that’s never been a problem earlier.
Hence my search for stereo EQ for the streamed output from my Iphone/Ipad.
I realize it won’t be a perfect solution, but hope it would improve the experience listening to music through my Bose headphones without HAs.
Hi, some questions about your setup to help me in making recommendations:
- What is your music source for streaming? If the music source is via an app, e.g. Spotify, then often the app has some simple tone controls (Bass, Middle, Treble) built into it.
- Are your Bose headphones plugged directly into the iPad or are you listening via Bluetooth? Also what model are they? Some Bose headphones have simple tone controls.
FYI, I listen to music (without HAs) via a DAC which feeds into a headphone amplifier box with simple tone controls and then onto my headphones so I can increase the treable
Thanks for your reply.
Until a couple of years ago all the music I listened to was streamed from a local Windows pc to my Iphone or Ipad with Squeezebox software.
Now almost everything comes from Spotify. I also listen to classical music from the Mezzo tv-channel - sometimes on my Ipad pro but usually tv/stereo in the living room.
The headphones are cabled Bose QC25.
I am aware of the EQ in the Spotify app. The problem is that adding a lot of treble to both ears sounds bad on my “good” ear.
I am not familiar with Apple AirPods. Does any of these have options for having different EQ on left and right ear?
You would have to use the Airpods Pro 2 where you feed in your audiogram and then the Apple app (I forget the name) sets up equalisation independently for each ear - so your good ear would get not very much equalisation and your poor ear would get lots.
Look for other threads in this forum that discuss Apple Airpods as hearing aids.
