Starkey Edge AI

This type of aid was released last week.

Anyone else here got this?

I’d love to hear any feedback.

I am trialing then now.
Yes I can hear better, but they are new aids with a slightly different audiogram.
As far as noise.
I went to a restaurant that is ridiculously noisy.
I used Edge AI with extra noise reduction on.
I could actually hear and talk to my wife.
I even held a conversation with a lady I did not know at the table next to me.
That did impress me.
I was aware of the noise but it did not overpower me.
I now know why people like a music program. I can tell the difference in the sound. I’m no music expert.
The only thing is my left ear is a mess.
It’s loud and boomy on regular program. Not on music.
I know that the dome is sealing my ear completely, it does it on my other aids. The only different is the occlusion comes and goes with that aid.
Since my left ear is distorted it stands out more.
So far I like them.
I’ll have them for a couple more weeks.
I’m going to try to have the booming issue addressed this week.

Thank you so much for your feedback on this new hearing aid.

I really appreciate it.

The reason why I asked is that i might be provided with this latest Starkey aid.

If you get a chance to trial it you should.
It’s not perfect but no one’s aids are.

I’m going to test then again tonight.
Going out with my son, fiance and her father.
The restaurant he picked out can be noisy when full.
Good luck.

What I am wondering, did you had Starkey Genesis? (or Evolv?)
I had tested Genesis and they are good devices, but I didn’t like the metalic sound, and if the Edge AI has the same sound I wouldn’t consider them.

Hello there,

I am using the Audibel Intrique AI hearing aid .I am told its the Genises rebranded version.

It has broken down and despite going back to the maker to be repaired, it returned still with issue’s according to its own Self check. Also , sound has completed gone whrn received from repairer.

I heard about the new Edge one which came out last week.

There is an intrique edge AI.
That’s the one I’m trialing now.
If I decide to buy it my Audi knows I will not buy the Audibel.
She has agreed to sell me the Starkey edge
AI.

Tried both.
I can’t tell the difference in sound between one hearing aid and the other.
I trialed Resound Nexia 9.
Really didn’t sound any different to me.
I wear Audibel Plantinum A4 IQ.
I believe 2016 models
I have distortion in my left ear.
So that has an influence on how things sound to me.
With hearing aids I hear distortion.
Without hearing aids I hear distortion.
What I do know is they worked in a ridiculously noisy restaurant.
Last night I went out again. The restaurant wasn’t really noisy but I held a conversation with everyone at the table. There were five of us. This included my oldest son who mumbles and talks low. I could understand him.
I hope this helps.

But Resound Nexia sounds different then Starkey Genesis, maybe you have used DSL or NAL for both?

No clue.
I’m pretty sure it’s Starkey’s proprietary fitting formula.
Nexia loud and booming.
Evolv, Genesis, and Edge AI loud and booming.
You throw in the distortion and to me it’s the same.

I have been back & forth with the regular & mini Starkey Edge AI. I really like the mini, but Starkey didn’t change the size of the charger to fit them & they won’t charge properly unless you get them in perfectly & don’t dare move the charger. For now, I’m in the regular & really want the mini’s back.

Does anyone have any updated experiences, especially speech in noise. Thanks

I do.
I’ve worn them in several noisy places.
The last place was my son’s wedding.
Typical wedding.
Music way to loud.
People shouting to be heard, singing.
I put them in Edge AI and adjusted the app for noise reduction.
I was able to actually hear people.
Was it perfect no.
If I had been wearing my old aids I would have put them in mute mode. That’s what I have done in the past.
So far so good add they say.

Thanks for the comments!
What made them not perfect? How much could you hear?

At this point, we really need a comparison between these and the Sphere…

The Starkey ones seem too good to be true, considering all the limitations of the Phonaks…

I mean if you want silence where everything is blocked out except for the voices you want to hear it doesn’t do that.
It knocks down a lot of the back ground noise.
Voices can sound a little funny. I think it’s because of the noise reduction.
I bought them and I like them.
As far as battery, I have a tendency to sleep in my aids.
I wore them for 24 hrs. I had 40% left in each ear the next morning.
How they are perceived by each wearer will depend on their loss.
I have distortion in my left ear, permanent.
How I hear things will be different than other people.
There is someone on this forum who has the Spheres who intends to try the Edge AI.

I’m going to my wife relatives for Thanksgiving.
That gathering can be as noisy if not more noisy than any restaurant.
I’m looking forward to see how they work.
