Specsavers Advance Elite Bluetooth not connecting to phone or PC

I have just been fitted with a Specsavers Advance Elite hearing aid. The bluetooth will not connect to my android mobile phone or PC . It will not even connect to my Ipad . And I have only just noticed that on the front of the booklet it says made for Iphone / Ipad . My question is are they Android compatable ?

If it is the Sonova manufactured model it should easily connect to iPhone or Android. Resound or Signia models may only be iPhone compatible. You would need to check with Specsavers.

Thanks Barry . I have an appointment tomorrow. Best Regards…Alan.

Alan,Did you actually first pair the aid to your phone/ iPad/PC before trying to use the app?

Not sure now…to be honest .

I’m surprised they didn’t pair your phone for you.

I believe they did pair the phone via a hearing aid app . I hear the bluetooth connection beep , but it does,nt connect the audio . So the software says its connected , but no audio coming through . Cheers…T

Your Specsavers Advance Elite hearing aid is made for iPhone/ MFi Bluettooth. I assume it is a rebranded Signia hearing aid.

So you can have audiostreaming only with Apple devices (iPhone, iPad), and certain ASHA compatible Android Phones.

On Android Phone you always can connect to the App and you can change settings via the App. Because the adjustment via App will work on every Apple and Android device

But Audio streaming on Android phones depends on ASHA, so only if your Android Phone is ASHA compatible rhen the audio streaming is possible.

What Model and Maker is your Android Smartphone ?

So the pairing they have done will only work with the app. No streaming and no phoning. If they can’t sort this for you, I would ask for my money back. I was told by Specsavers that their own brand aids were rebranded phonaks in which case you should have no problem with streaming and phoning.

Thanks for the useful information . Model is a Motorola Moto E 30. Appreciated.

Well the aids should be able to stream to a Moto E30 if they are rebranded phonaks. It’s pretty bad that Specsavers didn’t sort all this. I had some aids from them last September. I took them back when I realised how limited their support was. You get lots of appointments but they are short ones. They didn’t really listen to me and didn’t do REM although they said they would. I asked on this forum for recommendations of a good audiologist in my local area. From that, I now have a much better experience.

The Moto E30 does not support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Audio or Made for iPhone (MFi) / Android ASHA (Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids), which are required for direct audio streaming to most modern hearing aids.
Moto E30 Bluetooth Capabilities:
Bluetooth Version: 5.0
Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC): Not officially rated for M3/T3 or higher.
Profiles Supported: A2DP, LE (No support for ASHA or MFi)

I spent an embarrassing amount of time with MOTO cell phone both T-Mobile and Motorola support. While MOTO claims to have upgraded some 2024 models, I doubt there will be trust on my part.
At this point, some of the Samsung users appear to have success. I have recently posted some info about that. I am not stuck on Samsung alone. Just trying to reach the 80%/20% rule.
Best of luck.

Yes . I;ve come to this realise this . Very disappointing .

I had been using Boots previously DX Audio Nova. they worked fine on the MOTO e30 until the motherboard froze…again the HA will not boot up . MMM So back to Phonak again . I quite fancy the Phonak Audio Infinio sphere I90s

But Phonak hearing aids work well with Android phones. I have had 3 different sets of Phonaks which are fully compatible with my old Redmi phone and with my more recent Motorola. Either way, I think it’s appalling that Specsavers didn’t go into all this.

If they are "Made for iPhone, they are NOT rebranded Phonaks. As others have suggested, them being rebranded Signia seems likely

On the Specsaver website they offer currently three types of hearing aids.

  • a RIC type hearing aid (receiver in canal)
Specsavers Advance 72 → this is a rebranded Phonak Lumity Slim , and this support classic bluetooth and can stream from every smartphone , PC, Laptop, Tablet-PC, etc. , because only Phonak support classic bluetooth for audio streaming, as well as the other brands from Sonova, like Unitron, Hansaton, Sennheiser.

  • a BTE style hearing aid (with sylicon tube into the ear)
Specsavers Advance 64 → this looks like a ReSound Nexia , streaming only via Bluetooth LE Audio , MFi , ASHA ( no classic bluetooth )

  • a ITE style hearing aid (in the ear)
*Specsavers Advance 81 → this looks like a Signa Signia Silk IX , streaming only via Bluetooth LE Audio , MFi , ASHA ( no classic bluetooth )

Yes, that seems right. So if the original poster can tell us what type he has - RIC, behind the ear or in the ear - it would clarify what connection he could expect with his phone.
