SP and UP hearing aids

Have you ever made an earmold impression using the open-jaw technique, ideally with a bite block to prevent accidentally closing the jaw and temporomandibular joint movement during silicone curing? This can be a problem-solver, as well as allowing a deep impression (5 mm past the second bend of the ear canal).

No, they didn’t do it that way. But since these domes are working much better than the EMs I had, I’m sticking with them.

Okay, it’s unusual for me. I wait for cShell, because even biggest power domes with P receiver are annoying and unreliable for me.

It’s recommended to have an annual hearing evaluation. It’s very important to ensure you don’t over-amplify where it’s not needed. Technology has advanced a lot, in size, clarity, wind reduction, and feedback. The difference between using a SP and a UP can be only 10 dB. Having bass at 80 dB and treble at 90 dB makes a difference. I work more with Resound, but the brand doesn’t matter if the person programming them knows and understands what they’re doing, there’s no problem. Now we do real-ear measurements to improve everything. It’s important to get annual checkups to preserve and prevent damage.

Wow, is that possible? I thought Genie 2 software couldn’t allow this.

Hmmmm… audiologist told me at the time the aids would detect the more powerful receiver without need for reprogramming. However, I’m surprised you think 105dB is not possible; take a look at the fitting range chart for the Intents. From memory there are 4 power levels associated with each receiver, of which 105dB is the most powerful with a custom receiver.

Yes, I know about that, I wrote today a post with HF comparison between Oticon Intent vs. Phonak Audeo Infinio receivers.

I meant that how it is possible to blowing off the 100 receiver, I though that there is a manufacturer’s safety limits.

Ahh…yes, I don’t know. The 100dB were pushing my limits somewhat. I was glad for the 105dB receivers in the end; there was much needed volume on the TV Adaptor.

kevels55 blows his Phonak receivers (and has done many times) so he gets on better with his BTE Hearing Aids.
