Slim tips on Phonak Paradise P90R wax guards

Couldn’t hear outside.
Changed both waxguards.
I find it hard. But did it!

I have nerve damage in each hand.
Changing two Cerustop filters is a real victory!

And a first for me

Later. Couldn’t hear. Had to turn volume up. Checked. L HA. I had left the receiver a tiny bit out when I pushed the wax filter in. Aarghh

Or am I just tired. Seemed to help putting it in right.

Are you sure you have P receivers with Cerustops wax guards? Maybe they have other wax guards like HE3?

Did your audiologist explain why you have Slim Tips instead of cShell? It is about comfort?

absolutely sure.
My Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s came with the terrible “frisby” case waxguards. They were replaced by Phonak with Power Receivers; then Power Receivers plus the Cerustop waxguard filters on a stick. Then the Hearing Care provider took an impression, made slimtip inserts and provided the pack of Cerustop waxguards on a stick. The waxguard just fits.

By the way I learned here about the change in waxguards eliminating the “frisby” case ones
I’m old. I have declining eyesight and no sense of touch in either hand.

I’m very happy that Phonak made the change to the old style waxguards that worked so well for me for 20 years. That’s in Canada…may be different in Poland.

My Hearing Instrument Supplier is a hero for me.

My dispensing audi was a gentleman. However, he had no knowledge of Phonak Paradise setup. I suffered under his care for 1 and a half years. I couldn’t hear at all.

Meantime, I’m a heart patient now. And my hearing is worse since I left that old Audi.

I have the same Cerustops on black sticks.

I use the same ones to, my custom molds have a rubber insert that the Cerustops fit into, and so far I can still manage to remove the guards to blow them out if I get wax in them, maybe one a month depending on the need. But changing them takes onle a few seconds.

My slim tips are great.
except for changing wax filters. I’m glad they came with cerustop filters.

I can barely use those filters. One will be easy; the other is hard.

I can’t feel anything with my hands. And I need new glasses. First time I changed both filters I pushed the receiver out of the siilicone wrap and insert. Then I put it together upside down.

Emphasizing the good…it’ll be easy to get replacement Power Receivers put on.
And I need to be careful putting wax filters in

Dave.
Maybe this can help.

Thank you! Incredible! It’s wonderful you sent that. Made me smile!

Looked at your audiogram. I always do. It shows how we all who are Hard Of Hearing have such different cases to resolve

Did you see Neville’s tale today of a patient he helped? The patient had been poorly served by their hearing aid supplier

He has been so patient recommending solutions for me. I was too stubborn and didn’t adopt them.

Thanks so much! I spent time today using the
Phonak APP in work cafeteria. 70 dB. I couldn’t understand talk.

Honestly, this just sounds wrong. I believe you’ve been given the wrong Cerastops, and bad advice from your Audiologist. Attached, are my Phonak Slimtips, with the receivers in place in the internal silicon sleeve. They never need to be removed, unless the receivers go faulty. In fact, if you’d have been given C.Shells, you wouldn’t be able to remove the receivers at all!

The attached photos should explain:

Here’s my Audio P90, with receiver in place, and the (white) wax filter connected to the slimtip. There’s no need to touch the actual receiver, and the filter should only go on the receiver, if you use domes.

Here’s the Cerastop removing the old filter

Here’s the Slimtip with the filter removed. You should have been given filters that fit that hole.

Finally, here’s the slimtip with new filter fitted.

Removing the receivers every 3 days will most likely mean the silicon sleeve will detach itself from the slimtip (this has happened to me).

Hope this helps
Peter

Edit: The Cerastops are in a grey pack!

Thanks Peter

His instruction was wrong. He said take the silicone cap off to change the wax filter.

My intention is to just use the filter on a stick. But I can’t feel it. I’ll get better

And here’s a happy New Zealander. I recently had to have a receiver replaced and tt came with the old style Cerustop waxguard. The audiologist said they’d had so many complaints of problems with using the ‘frisbee’ to change waxguards.

You could have taken pics of my custom molds, I have the same ones and never had issues with the wax guards.

@kgmgpm

My hearing aid specialist saved me. So did @Neville

After about a year and a half my dispensing Audi suggested someone else could help me more than he could. It’s a long story stated elsewhere. No sense in repeating it.

The new man’s first fit was so much better than the dispensing Audi had done with hearing tests and REM.

It’s two years later. “ Hearing Well Matters “ is amazing. I hear so much better. Some people here have advised me to get moulded inserts for a long time. My hat is off. I salute them. I’d had real pain from a single in the ear Widex which was my first hearing aid.

So HWM sells some Phonak. My Paradise P90Rs are probably the only ones he has programmed. That makes it even more amazing Robert took me on. He is amazing.

The dispensing Audi did some good things. I wish him well. I wouldn’t go back if he paid me lots and lots of money. If he calls me, I shall hang up. I was a loyal customer.

I have lots to learn. Domes. Domes. Domes. Inserts. Oh my

Hearing Well Matters has provided great service. If there’s a fault it’s mine. I thought Power Domes were awful. And used closed domes.

I played lots and lots of football. I have no sense of touch in either hand

I’m a heart patient too. I think that the medicine I’ve taken has caused hearing loss. I got my stents about 3 years ago.

Regrets?
I wish I had taken the Sportster Ironhead I ordered in 1966. XLCH with a Peanut tank. 78 now and still working.

Phonak Audeo Paradise P90Rs, Power Receivers. Slim tips. A friend knew the drummer from Rush. I can finally listen and think I can hear the magic. I’m reading his book Ghost Rider now. He rode to heal.

I get serious wax problems and have to change mine in the Infino i90s every week. I took have nerve problems in the hands and tremors. I can totally sympathise with you. I also wipe the receivers and domes down every night. Trying to get the domes off is a nightmare

Do you use only your fingers to remove your domes Brian? I also struggle, but find using tweezers much easier.

Yes I only use my fingers, I will try tweezers it is a good idea

@Brian58

Hi Brian! I’ve worn my moulded inserts for about 3 weeks.
They are so much better.

I’ve used power domes. I’ve stopped. I used closed domes for quite some time.

I finally listened to @Neville and some members here.

The inserts are so much better.
I hear better.
They’re easier to put in my ears
They’re easier to take out
I don’t have to remove domes to change wax filters.

I have paradise P90Rs with Power Receivers. They were updated to use the wax filters on a stick.

I had become obsessive with those. Checking for feedback.
Changing domes
Changing wax filters.
Making sure they were in far enough.

There are so many advantages.

Yes. I have issues changing wax filters. That’s ok. Worth it!
