Should I try the child size earhook on my hearing aid?

Hi all. I was watching a YouTube video and a lady on there had hearing aids and said that the audiologist changed her earhook to a paediatric sized one because the hearing aid unit kept flopping to one side off her ear and the same thing happens to me, I had to cut my tube shorter than usual otherwise the hearing aid just falls off my ear but it does mean they start rubbing (where I circled it) and gets sore and the unit now sits higher on my ear than usual so it sometimes fall forward instead of sideways lol.

Has anyone ever got a smaller earhook and made it easier to keep the hearing aid behind the actual ear and not make it keep falling off? I will not need to get it readjusted will I? My job requires a lot of physical activity so it has to stay secure at all times.

I have used children’s ear hooks for years.

My Mum when I was a child, insisted I have smaller ear hooks as the Microphone was quite far down. She had a right nightmare making the NHS aware that she wasn’t happy with where my Microphone was placed as they were like, no it’s fine.

Had used them since altho my current Oticon HAs have adult hooks as I haven’t changed them yet.

I know phonak has colored pediatric earhooks if that interests you.

Already have them on my Phonaks and my older Phonaks.

Oticon change of ear hooks seem very complicated compared to Phonak so haven’t changed my Oticon ones.

I am going to order some from Connevans. I have Danalogic so Phonak coloured will not fit I dont think? Connevans have child size earhooks to fit the brand I am using.

Just ring and tell them the model. Get a couple of spares as they do deteriorate over time.

Go for it, they don’t impact the output.

@Zebras I like the way it looks it has got a better bend than the adult sized ones. @Um_bongo do you mean call Connevans or Phonak? Sorry I was up at 5 for work so I am probably still half asleep lol! I have also sent an email to my audiology department to see if they would be able to send them to me. I doubt it but worth a try!

Can I ask, why do you have a bend in your hearing aid tubing? Does it do something different than straight tubes I’ve seen quite a few people with the bend do you not push it all the way into the mold?

@craftycrocheter

I would contact both your hospital and Connevans?

@Phoebe

I’ve been told it’s to make it sit better against your head.

I don’t pick up tubing from my hospital as the time and cost, I may as well buy it. The cheapest place I buy from, they offer these double bend tubing.

Exactly what Zebras said @Phoebe. It sits where “forward helix” is, rather than straight up. I imagine that would make the hearing fall off completely.

@Zebras I ordered tubes from eBay ages ago. Not expensive at all and I have learned how to do it so I can retube other peoples hearing aids at my work (they are older folks so not able to do it themselves). Pack of 12 for about a tenner.

Connevans.

They’ll know immediately on the phone.

@Zebras is that a pink, blue color
Combo? I love it!

@DeafAntifa

Pink and purple.

The purple is super dark tho.

looks beautiful! Do you find that the small earhooks is more comfortable? It seems a smaller size would be more fitted to your ear.

They are gorgeous aren’t they @DeafAntifa . I have ordered child size earhooks last night. Hopefully they will be more comfortable! I contacted Connevans too and they confirmed that it was the right product to fit my hearing aids too. Also got leopard print skin from Hearos UK coming, too. I ordered the wrong nail tape… needed water to apply, which obviously I ust not do! So sticker it is.

The blue leopard print and caticorns are my favorites to wear!

They all look so good! I was going to get the teal leopard skin but my hearing aids are beige so it would not really blend in very well (where the microphone but is). I love them coils… I will eventually get those as well.

I have got them (child size bottom one). They do not look much different from the adult size but they curve over a lot easier… I nees to retube my hearing aids now because they are now too short lol.
