Went for a 2nd hearing test today. Results are kinda on par with my last test. They have suggested I get the signia active pro. Has anyone used this hearing aid and how is it with music? The other audiologists suggested oticon more as their choose of aid. Wondering which will serve me better
Only you can decide as we all hearing differently.
I don’t know much about those aids but I’m guessing there are advantages and disadvantages to both.
The Signia does not have a reputation as being good with music, although people’s perceptions vary a lot. For that loss (and the fact that these are your first hearing aids), my bias would lean towards the Oticon More also.
I wear the More1 aids and I love Oticon aids in general. All I can tell you is that music sounds so much better to me with the More1 aids than any other aids I have worn. And I have worn Oticon aids for the last 11 plus years.
Like @cvkemp, I wear More1s, and am a professional musician (although mostly retired, now). I’m very happy with the performance of my Oticon hearing instruments, but my audiologist is probably just as important as the choice of hardware.
Signia is now a part of WSA who also do Widex. I wear Widex Evokes and they give me the “magic” with music that can make it take your breath away. They have also given me incredible speech intelligibility, notably in noisy situations yet it always sounds relaxing. We all have different experiences and it would be a good idea to try both if you can, then you can understand what they can both offer you. The fit type (custom is usually best), aid type and fitter are all key parts of the result. Look at the websites for both. I believe the Signia active will have a design particularly appealing to those who have an active lifestyle, but may also appeal for other reasons to those who don’t. By comparing the two you can see which seems a better hearing fit for you. Good luck.
We are back to the fact that there is no way to tell which hearing aid will be best for YOU except for YOU to try them. 2 people with the exact same audiogram will NOT always like the SAME hearing aid!!!
You can probably get as many recommendations as there are providers, or people on this forum and most will be different. You just have to TRY them.
Yes, it is time consuming and annoying to have to go back and forth to your provider and TRY different aids. But it is the ONLY way to know what provides the sound YOU like the best!!
Picked up the signia active pro today. Looks like it will take some getting used to them. Have to say I am listening to the tv at a lower volume is a pretty good thing. So far the sound is pretty decent, it actually does a pretty decent job at streaming music. Will give it a few days and see how it goes
So a few days with them. The good is music streamed to them sound ok. The bad, sounds like I am in a can with echoes In it. Maybe it is me getting used to them?
