Thank you so much for this very helpful information.
Yes, the Hearing Aid Know review that you cited is part of what prompted my question regarding availability of telecoil on the Preza battery model, but as you say, it may have been premature and may be incorrect. I have reached out to Hearing Aid KNnow and am waiting for a reply.
The previous Costco Resound model, the Vida did have telecoil, so that may be part of what is causing the confusion.
However I have pressed Costco on this and they are consistent in saying that the Preza does not have telecoil, either in battery or rechargeable model.
Yes, the Multi Mic would add telecoil capability, so thank you for that information and we will be looking at that.
Again, thank you and if anyone has battery Preza and can confirm whether it has telecoil or not, that would be very much appreciated.
I’ve had Prezas for about a month now. At my recheck yesterday, the audiologist told me that there is nothing in his fitting software to enable telecoil. I do have the replaceable size 13 battery model.
This is contrary to information I read prior to getting mine.
Just ran across this. Something that came to mind. You mentioned your Dad’s profound hearing loss. I don’t have an audiogram to look at, but Ultrapower BTEs are often recommended for profound losses. I don’t think the Preza is offered in a BTE, but I suspect the Vida is. I believe BTEs are also more likely to include a telecoil.
Just received my new battery Preza hearing aids. Upgraded from the Forte. They work well with the 3D app. I have elected not to upgrade my iPhone until all bugs are removed from recent upgrade. The Prezas work fine with IOS 12. Not ready to conclude how much better, if any, than the Fortes. Waiting to see if clarity of speech is a step up. With a few hours of use they are delivering good amplification.
Just received my Prezas. They do not have a telecoil. Information I read indicated they had the telecoil. However before I made purchase the Costco personnel told me that it did not Have the telecoil so I was informed of that fact before the purchase.
They are battery. Not sure rechargeable were right for me. Been wearing aids since 1979. So use to batteries. Also not sure about traveling abroad with rechargeables.
I, too, was misled by the telecoil misinformation. Drawn to the Costco Preza, but not happy without telecoil. So, it appears that the phone clip somehow provides this functionality, but I can’t find any details. Do you need to use the phone clip only when trying to use telecoil, or, once paired, do you have to use it all the time?
I was thinking about getting the multi mic which is suppose to have the tcoil built in. Also it can work as a streamer from your tv. I will be getting a demo in a couple of weeks and see how it works. In checking in Omaha there are not of locations that have the loop system so am not sure how often I would use the tcoil.
I think it’s the Multi Mic that provides the telecoil functionality. The Phone Clip+ is meant for streaming phone calls, for streaming audio media via Bluetooth, and when not streaming either a phone call or audio media, it can serve as a very basic remote, i.e., volume up/down, cycle through programs one-by-one, mute HA’s (the PC+ has its own built-in microphone so although it’s something extra to hang around your neck, it can provide hands-free phone use since you don’t have to use the phone’s microphone or pick up the phone to answer or hang up). The Multi-Mic can serve as either a unidirectional or omnidirectional remote microphone, a wired streamer (connect to device to stream from by a short double-ended 3.5 mm stereo phone plug), a telecoil receiver, connector to FM systems when a Europin FM receiver (not supplied) is plugged into the device. Whatever input method to the Multi Mic, the device then streams to your HA’s thru ReSound’s proprietary Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) streaming protocol.
I note on the wired streaming the spec sheet that I downloaded says “mixed mono” even though the connector appears to have stereo pins on each end. I think telecoil is basic mono, too, but perhaps more knowledgeable folks on the forum can correct that (mis?)impression.
The spec sheet gives the following hours of connectivity in the various modes as follows:
Hello,
I just purchased a pair of Prezas from Costco. These are my first HAs and so far I am impressed with the improvement in my hearing and comprehension. In the Resound App, the individual volume controls are reversed…left is right, and right is left. Will this be an issue going forward or just something to live with? I haven’t had my follow-up appt yet. Thank You
That has to be a screw-up. Both my wife’s and my Prezas are correctly identified in the application. It should be an easy fix for your audiologist / fitter.
I agree with loftynotions. My left and right HA’s are on the left and right in the app.
BTW, ReSound recently had an update of the Smart 3D app for Android from v1.5 to 1.5.1. The 1.5.1 app is noticeably snappier in a number of ways, making BT connection with HA’s, switching HA programs, etc. Quite a nice improvement over v1.5 even though ReSound says it’s a very minor update and indicates that by the version number. Hope iOS folks are enjoying a similar update as well!
As a follow up…turns out the ReSound messed up and reversed the prescription. My audiologist at Costco was able to correct the error on site. All good now and it has made a big difference as my left and right Rx’s are noticeably different. Thanks to all for your help.
BTW, I’m looking at an app called “ReSound Adaptability Course”. Would this be helpful for a first time wearer? Anyone with any experience? Thanks Again!
The Costco HCP should catch that at the first fitting. When you launch Smart Fit 1.x, there is a setting at initially connecting with each HA to check and verify which ear in the software identifies with which HA. I always use that identifier in each fitting situation when I’m playing around myself, if nothing else just to back up the “Connected” indication for each HA in the fitting software UI display. The test can be audible and it also can be visible, one can cause the LED on a particular HA to blink. I know my audi checked that out on initial fit and she did that without having the HA’s in my ears. She held each one in turn up to her ear with the receiver opening close to her ear canal. I don’t know about Costo Preza but for the ReSound Quattro an HA body can be linked to either ear. So the Costco provider blames ReSound(?!). I think the main responsibility is the provider’s on first fit.
