Resound Linx

Hi all,

Just an update on my audi appointment this morning. I mentioned to her about the issues I am having with being able to hear voices (not the ones in my head lol) and she made some adjustments for me. She switched me back from the tulips to the open domes as the tulips are quite uncomfortable. She raised the soft speech in the All Around and Restaurant settings another couple of notches for me also. Hopefully this works this time.

In respect of the Linx2, she will contact the local rep (who is also the NZ manager) and invite him along to our next adjustment so he can hear/see the issues I am having and hopefully (fingers crossed), authorize a return on my existing 961s for the new Linx2. I mentioned that had I known the 2 was coming out I would have held off buying these ones.

The Smart App, iOS 8.2 and iPhone 6 combo seems to be working well - connection is fast and audio connects noticeably quicker on incoming and outgoing cellular calls and FaceTime. Even when playing back audio messages received thru iMessage the connection seems to be superfast, so in regard to this side of things I am very happy. No problems discovered yet, but it is only the first day…

Cheers,
Richard

I tried the Lynx for a couple of days. I consume a lot of audiobooks. I have the Resound Forza with phone clip+ that works very well.
The Lynx/iPhone sounded very shrill and noisy, almost unusable.
I then paired the clip+ to the Lynx. The audio sound was much better but not quite as good as with the Forza; maybe force a habit??
I did not try the Lynx/iPhone away from home where we have a lot of 2.4GHz devices…
I will be trying the Lynx2 and will report afterwards.

I sent the following to ReSound tech support (who has done a good job of corresponding):
After just a little use, I thought I’d share my 8.2 experience. It does seem to recognize the HA’s more quickly with phone calls, apps and triple-clicks.
Wifi is still a complete incompatible setting when streaming or phone use.
Major distortion of streaming signal and frequent drops are common if wifi is enabled.
If you adjust bass, treble and HA volume in the “Smart” app the settings will reset if streaming is paused even briefly.
Even with wifi disabled and the app settings adjusted, the streaming quality is the worst I’ve ever experienced in any earbud or headphone.

When will linx be available at Costco?

We don’t have a definitive answer, but people have talked to their Costco fitters who have said that they expect the KS6 to come out soon and to contain direct iPhone connectivity, suggesting it will be some version of the LiNX.

Costco to offer Linx April 1, 2015? According to Hearing Blog article: http://thehearingblog.com/archives/3848
Sounds wonderful if it is true. Comments???

I seriously hope its not an April fools joke.

I went to the above link. It is interesting at a lot of levels. The author is irate that the price of hearing aids is going down. In the article he states that Costco’s cost is the same as those of the traditional shops. I’d think that’d put a bit more flexibility in the traditional market. One of the links there show how it could be accomplished.

Every so often markets are disrupted and the traditional “right way” get destroyed. Electronics has provided both growth and destruction across many product lines. It is Darwinian growth heralding adopt or perish. If I were a clinic owner, I seriously look at that second article entitled Signal & Noise.

That first article represent the imbedded mentality that wants nothing to ever change. It is a stop gap measure that will leave those in the industry who believe in it weaker in the long run.

LOOKS LIKE 2 New Versions

Audiologically, the new LiNX² has little difference to the earlier LiNX: They will be selling two versions at the Big Box store, an MFi “LiNX 6″ in between the 5 & 7 versions, and a “LiNX 8″ in between the 7 & 9 versions.

davino, a few questions for you (or others) from a newbie.

  1. Is the WIFI interference/distortion you are experiencing (during streaming or phone use) only occurring when your HAs are linked to an I-phone with WIFI enabled … or also when you are in a WIFI “area” or “zone”?
  2. Can you comment on the quality of streaming outdoors in a WIFI-free area (like when on a walk in the country)?
  3. Can you completely disable the interface with the I-Phone? (For example, to use the Resound Clip instead?) If so, how is that sound quality? Do you lose other HA features/functions by disabling the I-Phone interface (e.g., the ability to adjust HA volume)?
  4. When linked to the I-Phone, have you experienced interference from other I-Phone apps? (Have such apps been identified for disabling?)

Thanks!

I agree with what jbaugh says about the wi-fi issue being a problem on the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi band. I was having all kinds of issues with streaming music cutting out all the time. I have a dual band network also and switched the iPhone to the 5 Ghz band and the issues with streaming have pretty much gone away. The iPhone connects to the app better and faster, the app finds the iPhone quickly when they have been separated. The sound is clearer after turning off the mics and adjusting the bass and treble up. App version is
and iOS version is 8.1 ( I never had the courage to go to 8.2 ). Apple has released iOS 8.3, so I am interested to see if anyone has downloaded it and how it works with the Linx 961’s. Comments appreciated…

I have iOS 8.3 sounds fine… No improvement (or difference) from 8.2

Hello All,

First let me introduce myself, I am a male of 56 yrs old and suffering from moderate hearing loss on both ears as well as Tinnitus. I am living in the Netherlands. Some 8/9 weeks ago I visited the ENT specialist and the verdict was that I need hearing aids. Then searched the internet for modern solutions and also came across this forum. As an Apple fan I found the Linx MFi solution and concentrated on that. My visit to a local audicien convinced me furthermore to go for a set of Linx. I will be the first Linx customer for him but overall he has very good consumer ratings from the Dutch HA consumer community. The intake interview was thorough and ver pleasant so I have my confidence in him. The HA’s (linx 7) will be delivered someday end of this week (planning)

Reading all the 30! pages in this topic I have found the posts very learning and interesting. I own a iPhone 5S model with the latest IOS version (always follow the updates) which should be fine for the Linx7.

I also looked at Apple support pages, and I have Iphone 5S model A1457…and it is not listed in the Apple listing !!!
see link About Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) requirements for iPhone - Apple Support (it is the US page, same stated in the .NL page but in Dutch)
Any other forum member here on the forum with 5S model A1457? (it is stated at the back of the phone)

Somehow I don’t think it will be a problem, will see when I get the HA’s and try them in various situations. But there is a little alarmbel in my head due to the fact that I see various posts where one has a problem and another one with same situation (phone model and SW) has no problem att all.

Furthermore (to be ready) I did read about problems with the 2.4 ghz band, not only on this forum but across the internet. It seems that the2.4 Ghz band is much more used nowadays by various components that it was ever intended for. One solution that sticks out is to set your Wifi modem to the 5 Ghz band, which I think I will do on forehand. (have to find out how but should be doable…)

Again, thanks for the posts and info upto now and I will share mine as soon I have them! Exciting to find out what it will do for me to hear “speak” again without having to concentrate on lips also… :o

I have the “antique” iPhone 5 and the Linx2 hooked up to them via bluetooth with little problem.

Wifi routers normally have a setting for the band (1-11) that is normally set to automatic. You can play with the setting to try to eliminate interference.

Hi,

I am Dutch as well, and I was wondering if your medical insurance covered the purchase of the Resound Linx?

thanks,
Lambert

I am a new member to the forum.
I have had a pair of Linx2 Resound hearing aids for two weeks, having had a single Starkey S Series 5 aid previously (in my right ear). The improvement has been significant. The ability to pair with my iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad was one of the main attractions, and I have not been disappointed. I can “manage” the aids from all three devices without any difficulty. The two environments that I have had set for me (All Round and Restaurant) work extremely well. With more use I expect to add more, but these two suit my circumstances admirably for the time being.
Pairing the devices to my hearing aids is very straightforward. There’s nothing magic to it, especially if you are familiar with “pairing” mobile devices of any kind. I think this system only works with Apple devices, but I stand to be corrected.
A feature that does appeal to me is having phone calls diverted straight to my hearing aids. Music is the same, and I know that it is also possible to stream other devices, like televisions. However, I intend to be selective about these features as they will surely use up battery life ravenously. Battery size is determined by the size of the hearing aids. I use size 13 because I chose that size, but it is possible to go to 312’s instead. Battery life is very good so far, but I have been sparing in my use of “extras” like streaming. In fact I have only had to put new batteries in once in the past fortnight but I have been doing a lot of experimenting.
I’ve just been back to my audiologist for an initial tweak - which didn’t amount to much - and I have an appointment in another two weeks time. I anticipate that by then I will have it all pretty much satisfactorily under control.
So far I am very satisfied with the performance of the Linx2 system.

I’ve been thrilled with mine for more than 2 years. Please don’t “cheat yourself” by trying to save money on batteries. Look for deals buying those in bulk. You will have such joy with a TV transmitter and any other device it works with that you should not try to ration your good hearing! This is a vital sense and also by using your HA to the max, you save others a lot of problems–like too-loud TV etc. Enjoy your Linx and your newfound acuity.

As Pavane said about cost. Compared to you aids, it is insignificant. However, you want to purchase them online. This forum is run by a battery seller. They are significantly less that way.

hy, i need some help parying my resoun linx 761 with my unite tv and tv. my first question is : are linx 761 compatibile
with unite tv streamer 2? and if they are , can anyone tell me how can I make the streaming from the tv into my hearing aids. i managed to stream the sound if I plug in the unite tv2 through headphones but then the other people in the room can not hear the tv. if I try through rca or scart and i push the button o the hearing aids, I hear the sound of the wifi conection, it stays on that program for 5 seconds( i can not hear the tv in my hearing aids) and then it discconects automaticaly. pls help

If it works through the headphone jack on the TV but not through the audio out jacks then it tells me the TV is not set up to send sound through the audio out jacks. You normally have to select that or turn it on through the TV setup menu. Normally there are settings for audio out that include Off, Fixed, and Variable. If you still have the manual for the TV it should show you how to do it. You can also download manuals from various Internet sites.
