Hello All,
First let me introduce myself, I am a male of 56 yrs old and suffering from moderate hearing loss on both ears as well as Tinnitus. I am living in the Netherlands. Some 8/9 weeks ago I visited the ENT specialist and the verdict was that I need hearing aids. Then searched the internet for modern solutions and also came across this forum. As an Apple fan I found the Linx MFi solution and concentrated on that. My visit to a local audicien convinced me furthermore to go for a set of Linx. I will be the first Linx customer for him but overall he has very good consumer ratings from the Dutch HA consumer community. The intake interview was thorough and ver pleasant so I have my confidence in him. The HA’s (linx 7) will be delivered someday end of this week (planning)
Reading all the 30! pages in this topic I have found the posts very learning and interesting. I own a iPhone 5S model with the latest IOS version (always follow the updates) which should be fine for the Linx7.
I also looked at Apple support pages, and I have Iphone 5S model A1457…and it is not listed in the Apple listing !!!
see link About Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) requirements for iPhone - Apple Support (it is the US page, same stated in the .NL page but in Dutch)
Any other forum member here on the forum with 5S model A1457? (it is stated at the back of the phone)
Somehow I don’t think it will be a problem, will see when I get the HA’s and try them in various situations. But there is a little alarmbel in my head due to the fact that I see various posts where one has a problem and another one with same situation (phone model and SW) has no problem att all.
Furthermore (to be ready) I did read about problems with the 2.4 ghz band, not only on this forum but across the internet. It seems that the2.4 Ghz band is much more used nowadays by various components that it was ever intended for. One solution that sticks out is to set your Wifi modem to the 5 Ghz band, which I think I will do on forehand. (have to find out how but should be doable…)
Again, thanks for the posts and info upto now and I will share mine as soon I have them! Exciting to find out what it will do for me to hear “speak” again without having to concentrate on lips also… :o
