After 5 years of my first set of hearing aids (Resound Forza from Costco) and a great experience, I got a set of the Resound Forte 8 aids from Costco 2 days ago. I am loving the Bluetooth and using my iPhone for phone calls!
A couple of questions…
A) I have the 312 model. I can manually adjust the volume UP, but not down (like I could on the Forza aids). Am I missing something? The only way I’ve found to lower the volume manually is by turning the aids off, then back on - which is a pain.
B) How many channels does the Forte have? My HIS set these up with 3 channels, same as the Forza aids, but I thought there were 4 or more available. Any input?
I have the 312 Forte 8, and can only change programs with the button on the aid. Mine are synced so when I press the button one either aid, it switches to the next program. There are 4 program slots available. You shouldn’t be able to manually change volume with the button on the aid, only change programs.
I change volume, when I rarely need to, with the ReSound app on the phone. With the iPhone X I can also use the native Apple accessibility setting to make adjustments by hitting the power button on the phone three times in rapid succession to bring up the setting screen.
I suspected that there were more than 3 program slots available - ha! The HIS just used the 3 that I had on the Forza… now all I gotta do is think of another setting that I’d like to have.
If you push the button briefly on either aid, the volume goes up by 1 setting. Push it again, it goes up again. Hold the button down for a long second or two, it changes programs (just like it does on the Forza).
Thing is, there are situations when I don’t have my iPhone with me… church, etc… where I may need to manually adjust the volume. Going up, no problem. Going down, I don’t have the right answer yet. Grrrr…
There’s usually several ways to set up the buttons. One possibility is that if you give a short press on the opposite ear that it will give you volume down. I’d suggest either downloading the software (look in DIY section of forum) or reviewing the options with hearing aid fitter.
Yup, they did. I was the last appointment on Fri. afternoon before my fitter was taking a week for vacation - ha! She is great - I’ve been dealing with her for 5 years now, but she overlooked the “volume down” setting.
I just talked to the store and we’ll get that corrected on my follow-up visit next week. Just glad to know that “volume down” manually is an option!
The ability to change our hearing volume is a superpower granted to hearing aid users, in small compensation for our losses. I use mine when I’m watching TV with my wife. With my aids at full gain, a TV volume that’s comfortable for me is too low for her. So I bump down my HA volume by 3 clicks, and everything is fine.
