To be clear, I use the Evens without hearing aids in.
I totally agree. The music program in the Smart 3D app and moderate sound levels from a good hifi is what works best for me for now. With open domes no sound enhance sliders can give me what I miss from streamed music.
My low frequency hearing is very good.
Thanks ha11. That sounds like a very nice solution for adapted music listening!
I checked out their web site. There was one question I could not find an answer to: does the app run a separate hearing test on each ear or just an “average” for both ears at the same time.
If there are separate tests for each ear, then this is a product I really would like to check out.
Separate tests for each ear. I have the H3, and it looks like they are selling the H4 now.
There is a button to turn the eq on or off, to compare, and it’s hard to believe how muddy and dull the “straight” eq curve is in comparison, in my case.
I would like to see the same product designed for us with real hearing loss. They seem to be marketing it as “everyone’s hearing is a little different.” I guess correcting real hearing loss is less cool in the general market. In my case I had to take the test in such a way that high frequencies are completely maxed - and it still could be a bit brighter. Much better than no correction though.
Thanks ViolinMichael.
This product sounds like an answer to my prayer.
This hardware equalizer may be a better solution for me than a software one.
I’ve read a Macworld review claiming there is a low level hiss added to the sound. Is it disturbing?
Edit after reading more info online:
I read in a q&a section about this product on amazon.com that the company claimed the Aumeo would work best for people with 70db or less loss on any frequency but it will help even people with higher loss. So when you say you have to max out on high frequencies - it means your loss is more than 70db? (I still don’t know what mine is).
I do hope it’s not inappropriate asking.
Finally the million dollar question:
What, in your opinion, sounds best? Your headphones with Aumeo or the same headphones with the HA inside?
I think there’s a legal minefield they try to tip-toe through. I had a similar experience to yours with the Audheara headphones. I couldn’t hear the higher tones at all and just maxed out the settings. They never really sounded good to me although personalised sounded better than not personalised.
The Nura remains the hardware solution that’s worked best for me.
