Question for CI users about getting used to higher Main Volume Limit

I am currently trying to get used to the new Master Volume Limit after being on 207 CL for almost 1.5 months. I am aware that the scale is not linear.

I am making a trial run at 215 because I have a rare chance to try it while living for a few days with my family. (207 is not enough to get a satisfactory loudness of real-world or TV voices.)

However, despite not feeling exhausted just before going to sleep, I find that I tend to sleep for more hours (even 12 hours).

I theorize that there is a cognitive/stimulation load that necessitates oversleeping until I get used to that new level.

Has anyone had similar consequences from beginning with a higher Main Volume Limit?

Yes, the increased volume is more stimulation to the brain. It can be very tiring until acclimated.

This is very similar to people getting their first hearing aids. All the new sounds to learn can be exhausting.

But all these new sounds bring better speech understanding and environmental understanding as well.

This is exactly what you said. Ok, I’ll keep trying as long as I have temporarily more free time.

I wonder what effect would be after increase the dynamic range or changing pulse per second in my case.

I am no expert at all. But my thoughts are you need to push volumes more before trying different pulse lengths. Exhaust the easy things first.
My audiologist changed pulse after 2 years of maximum volumes for me on an est that was lagging behind speech understanding wise.

It takes time.
