Question about Phonak Infinio Sphere starter pack

I’ve just received the Phonak Audeo Infinio Sphere 90 from Wholesalehearing.co.uk.

The HA is working and I can DIY, but I had a little doubt whether my kit had everything that should be included.
Could anyone share their experience of the equipment and parts received?

I am not sure why they sent me the receiver with the angled (not straight) output for domes. Is this a default type of receiver that is sold?

Looks like a standard Phonak receiver.

Looks like the entire LEFT instrument is missing!

Agree that it looks like standard receiver. Kit looks complete. Basically should include aid, charger, domes. A cleaning brush and cloth are often included. You will need to get wax filters.

Thank you for your reply. Brush and cloth not included, but that’s not a problem. Wax filters (Cerustop) were included as 6 packs which I ordered separately.

For me, as I predicted, even large power domes are terrible compared to earmolds. They are unreliable for deep placement and I am not sure if the receiver output is directed at the eardrum rather than the ear canal wall - probably not, as I notice differences every time I try to place the dome. I’m waiting for cShell to see what the improvement will be.

I do have the impression, however, that the Sphere’s sound quality is slightly better than that of the Paradise.

Is the receiver the new 5? I know the poor fitting wax filter that came with the 4 receiver has been superseded.

No, for Infinios are only SDS 6.0, not 5.0/4.0 as previously with Lumities and Paradises.

SDS 6.0:

  1. has Cerustop, not Cerushield,

  2. has 8-pin connector

  3. it stays in place by clicking and is snug; it is no longer held by a metal bar within HA housing connector

  4. probably more prominent bends in wire

  5. slightly different frequency response of receivers, especially UP due to use HE4 filter, not Cerustops.

My Paradise P90R Power Receivers are the same way… Angled not straight output for domes.

I think the 5s have 3 pin connectors, for lumity/paradise/marvel. They also take a different filter.
The Infinio has a different connector, more than three pins.

@WhiteHat Just checked my KS10’s. (Paradise) The receivers are 4’s but with 3 pins. So they must have changed to 5 either prior to or when the Lumity was introduced. As you stated the 5’s would not fit the Sphere.

For what I know:

SDS 4.0 - Cerushield (filter from uncomfortable disc), 3-pin
SDS 5.0 - Cerustop (filter from more convenient plastic bars), also 3-pin.

Both for Lumity, Paradise and (probably) Marvel.

SDS 6.0 has 8-pin, but the same filter as in SDS 5.0 (Cerustop).

Lol I’m waffling on here about some meaningless statistic. UK speak " What’s that got to do with the price of fish" :joy:

Waffles and Fish?!? You must mean Fish and Chips!

Was a warranty card included with your Sphere kit, or is one unnecessary?

Hi Gandalf
I’ve had 3 pair of Phoanks here in Canada. I’ve never seen a warranty card.
I recently received the best of service. My second hearing instrument specialist sent my almost-3-year hearing aids and charger off to be checked. It took very little time for 2 hew Paradise P90R’s and a new charger to return to me. The’ve solved my battery capacity problems. I’m hearing better. My faith has been restored.

So I think here I MUST deal through a capable and interested service provider.
After all, I’m not Phonak’s customer. I was a customer of CVA who provided them. I was “fired” by CVA, and found a true service provider. That’s when things started to improve. Heck it’s kind of like buying a new car.
