I have had Costco ks9 hearing aids for 5 years, I have moderate hearing loss. My work has me on the phone a lot.
I have an iPhone XR currently. I went to Costco this weekend and they sold me new Philips HearLink 9050 hearing aids. They told me my phone was compatible. However, it’s actually not able to communicate via Bluetooth…an iPhone XR is Bluetooth 5.0 and as a result the hearing aid mic does not transmit my voice while on a phone call. That limitation makes it non workable for me, so I returned them.
My 5 year old Phonaks work properly with my current phone but the Bluetooth range is horrible. And there is no “app” for my current ks9 either. Here is my question: Is it worth getting a new phone for 900 dollars, will I see that much improvement in connectivity for phone calls etc. There is a Senn Heiser sonite r that another store has, and it uses Bluetooth 4.2
and therefore will work with my existing phone. Is it smarter to keep my 5 year old HA and phone…OR keep my phone and buy the Senn Heiser HA,or get a new phone so I can use the LE audio that the most recent HA (Philips jabra rextron etc) use?
I can help you a little, I just moved from ks10 to the new Rexton reach and the fidelity of phone calls is much improved. I used both with the same iPhone. With my ks10 people receiving my calls sometimes had a hard time hearing me and that is no longer an issue. I a using an iPhone SE and an 14 pro and both work great. I dad an KR with my old Bernafon aids and I had to use the phone microphone but could hear calls with my aids. I bring up my SE because it is available for around $300
I’m just curious why range is a factor on phone calls? I have 6 pairs of Phonaks and I find the Bluetooth range fine on all of them. The only exception has been if I’ve had the phone in a back pocket, which is asking Bluetooth to transmit through my body.
I have the Jabra EH Pro 20 hearing aids from Costco. My biggest disappointment is using my iPhone 13 and answering a call through the hearing aids. I have to speak into the phone otherwise, using the hearing aid microphone makes my voice sound like, according to my wife, that I’m speaking from the bottom of a barrel. Is the phone quality better with the Rexton Reach aids. I’m still within the 180 day trial period?
the range is so poor that if i step away from my phone, i drop the connection. It only works if its within about 24 inches of my ears. so having it in a coat pocket is not an option . Id liove to have the range I have for my bluetooth speaker etc. where i can be 5 or six feet away from my phone. Or keep it in a pocket whil i am driving
I’d get the Sennheiser Sonites but then I had and loved the KS9s for years, and the way they made phone calls possible for me again after I all but gave up on using the phone was a part of that. I could get 4-6’ away from the phone and call would be fine. It was forgetting and walking into another room that would bring on terrible static.
Sonites are not available in this area, so when I recently did something so stupid I won’t confess it here and lost the KS9s, rather than settle for any of the current Costco offerings that would require a new Android phone, I got Phonak Lumity 90s with 312 batteries. They’re off ebay from a U.S. seller, price about the same as Costco for Phillips or Rexton, and the first fit the seller programmed from my last hearing test is good enough I still haven’t done any tweaking although I have what I need and good intentions. As a bonus they also work with the TV Connector and Partner Mic I have.
I have no issues connecting and remaining connected to my iPhone 13 with my Jabra EH Pro 20 hearing aids. They’re Costco’s branded version of the ReSound hearing aids.
Well everything has changed. Verizon sent me a notice that I was due for an upgrade and gave me 700 dollars off a new phone. So i got an iphone 16 and the philips.
So great compared to my former 5 year old HAs and my iphone xr. my calls are clear as can be, both on my end and the other end. I can connect to my ipad also. Really love the philips HA and my guy at costco was fantastic
