UPDATE: FIXED!! Even though I had checked the optical cable yesterday, apparently I was working on the wrong connector. Turns out the cable was disconnected from the back of the TV. (The back of the TV is not visually accessable) It’s weird because it all worked fine with the P90s, so how the heck did the cable get disconnected!!?? I have no idea, but can now vouch for the fact that the Infinio Sphere works perfectly with the TV Connector 2. Thanks for your help!!

Having read that the TV Connector works with the Infinio Spheres, I gave it a try today. When I set the TVC to pairing, it connects to my HAs, plays all the tones you’d expect then disconnects in 2-3 seconds. I’ve rebooted the phone and the HAs, and I reset the TVC. Sadly, I get the same results. Anybody had any luck connecting the Infinio Sphere 90s to the TVC?
I’ve connected my Spheres with no problem and they work the same as my previous Marvels. I believe there was an earlier version 1 of the TV Connector. Is there any chance that you have that early version?
That’s good to hear! The TV Converter is “V.2”. I’ve read that there is a site that checks compatibility with the TVC serial #. I’ll look for that.
I posted in another thread that an audi can check compatibility on the Phonak portal using the serial number. Others posted that all of the recent Phonak HAs (Marvel to Sphere) are compatible. My result supports that.
Perhaps you could go back to the basics (unless you already have).
–In the app ‘Forget my device(s)’
–Uninstall/reinstall the myPhonak app
–In the app reconnect your HAs
–On the TV Connector “Press the Connect button on the back, and the indicator light will start blinking blue.”
No wonder I couldn’t find that TVC compatibility site. I’ll mention it to my audi. She actually told me they weren’t compatible.
Your recommendations are certainly on my to-do list. But first, when I “forget” the I90s (in the app), I’m going to set up my P90s again, and attempt to pair with the TVC, just to see if it’s the problem.
Thanks for confirming that the TVC2 actually works with the Sphere!
Probably a very silly comment- but you know these TV connectors very rapidly disconnect when there is no (or too weak) audio input (and the Led switches from green to white)?
I have also connected my Spheres to the TV Connector 2 with no problem at all. However, as @RobHooft has pointed out, the TV Connector will disconnect in some few seconds if there is no audio input and you are using the analog (3.5mm jack) cable, you will notive thsat by checking if the led is green (connected) or white (disconnected). The only workaround for that is switching to an optical (Toslink) cable (there is a thread in this forum discussing this particular problem).
Another possibility os that your audi has programmed the TV Connector in Manual mode instead of Automatic. In that case, you will have to manually switch to the TV Connector program, either with the change program button in the HA, or in the MyPhonak app.
Thanks. It definitely has the white light. I had checked the optical cable and connections yesterday, as well as the TV’s settings on digital output. Nothing obvious jumped out. I think I have an extra optical cable that I’ll try.
I think you two are on the right path. I’ll concentrate on the audio output to the TVC. Thanks for the hint!
I can also vouch that the TV connector (V2) works with the Spheres. I used a digital (TOSLINK) cable, so I don’t know how it works with the TV if you are using an analog cable, but as long as I am within about 50 feet of the TV connector it works great. Do you get any audio from the TV to the HA’s, or just connection sounds from the TV connector? If you never hear TV audio, I suspect either a bad cable or a setting in the TV is not providing the audio to the auxiliary audio output.
While slightly off topic I’ll add that the TV Connector reception distance has increased measurably with the Spheres vs my Marvels. With the Marvels I knew how far I could go into other rooms before it cut off. I’d say the Spheres have added 10 to 15 feet. I’m not stating the total distance because it’s not line of sight with the walls and doors involved.
Make sure that you are connected to the/an audio “output” (not an input) from the TV. My Samsung TV has only one toslink output connection on the back. It has some RCA connections and 3 or 4 hdmi connections, but they are all “input” audio connections.
I’ve been having the same problem. My audiologist is supposed to get me the correct cable to connect my TV connector. The cable needs to have a toslink connection for the TV output and a 3.5mm for the TV connector.
My TV doesn’t have an optical input, so I can’t make that mistake, but mine is fixed now. Seems the Toslink cable had become detached from the TV output. Plugged it back in, and voila!
It’s strange because I had been using it with my P90s until a couple of months ago when I got the I90 Spheres.
