Moderately severe hearing-impaired since I was a toddler, suspect side effect of antibiotics half a century ago in Indonesia (many cause irreversible hearing damage in children, we now know). Have been wearing hearing aids since the age of six. Always got molded earpieces, but recently switched to domes/RICs (Phonak Audéo P90R)- an improvement. Also, hearing aids have gotten far more user-friendly over the years, only amplifying soft sounds. Finally, modern Bluetooth integration is fantastic. Switzerland reimburses hearing aids (1,650 CHF/USD, regardless of the model). Importantly (but little known), users can buy these abroad, and hopping across the French border cuts the costs about in half.
