Phonak Sphere, Oticon Intent and Starkey Edge compared via Hearing Tracker Scores

Starkey Edge has finally had Hearing Trackers sound testing. (You can click on Compare Hearing Aids in upper right corner of screen to check out data for yourself.) Although overall score of Starkey Edge is close to Sphere and Intent (4.6 vs 4.8), it’s overall sound score is notably lower (4.0 vs 4.6 and 4.7) and markedly lower in noise (2.0 vs. 3.6 and 3.4) Who knows if this has any true meaning but I found it interesting… According to scores Sphere and Intent are very close overall with Intent holding a slight edge in overall sound and the Sphere having a slight edge in noise.

To be fair, they all do it. Maybe with different wrappers and flourishes festooning the marketing, but they all do it to some extent. I wait to see the results of real world trials. Where the rubber meets the road, I want to hear of experiences in various tough places, how the batteries last, etc.

I wear the Starkey’s.
I’ve shared my experience with them.
Latest was my son’s wedding.
I could hear and understand.
People were leaning into me so I would
talk in their ear.
The difference could be hear advisor uses open domes when they test.
I wear closed.
Maybe that is the difference.

Ziphearing review claims otherwise.

I thought the noise reduction and speech enhancement of Edge AI was as good as Phonak Sphere (and better in some ways), and at less than half the size of Sphere.

If someone can explain, how did you record the sound that the hearing aid reproduces? Did you use REM equipment?
