Phonak sphere - ambient mute automatically unmutes

Whie in TV streaming and muting ambient sound it for some reason unmutes on its own. Any help appreciated

This is an issue with all Phonak HAs from Marvel onwards.

To mute it and then turn Bluetooth off, if the only way to solve this issue.

Or disable system sounds. It happens when your phone plays a short tone (if too short you will not even notice, still your aids quickly switch into and back).

I make almost all notifications vibrate only.

I have set my Bluetooth Classic to connect only for phone calls, not multimedia, on my Android phone. YMMV.

The only notification I got through my Aids were FaceTime calls. All other notifications were silent.

I do wonder why Phonak has the issue of unmuting as Oticon doesn’t.

Probably different implementation with Bluetooth ASHA or MFi. With my sound processor I also has no problem with notifications and I hear streaming only if I press volume up or down button.

The one exception is phone calls - it is signalled without pushing that button.

If you have muted the ambient sound. In TV Streaming mode, and then just touch the volume slider in either direction, any amount at all, the mute UNmutes.
I have posted about it a LOT here.
I have complained to Phonak about it.
I have tried to get folks here to complain about it.
All I have received for my efforts are people here, insisting on rationalizing it’s behavior, and that I am crazy. IT is WhACKED out!

What I found annoying was, being at an Outdoor Show and there were loud speakers everywhere so I muted my Phonak M70 at the time.

Every time I took a picture on my phone, the Aids would unmute. All for saving my hearing, not.

I can understand the ambient sound mix change action. Any change by definition means some amount of mic. But if program changes to something like BT and then comes back, keeping active custom settings would be a nice courtesy.

I wonder if this will be fixed after upgrading to Bluetooth LE.

I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Wondering if you are able to SHUT OFF the phone’s camera shutter sound, which is not needed anyhow, if that would then no longer be interrupting the Bluetooth signal.

Not sure what you are asking. I’m not taking pics and camera doesn’t do anything without me

If you look, I wasn’t replying to you.

I wouldn’t know how to change my camera sound. When I wore Oticon, I don’t hear anything and I didn’t hear anything when no hearing aids connected regarding the camera.

I do this too. If I want to Bluetooth stream, 5 or 6 button presses and it’s done

Please disable notifications sounds of all apps who play short sounds. You can leave vibration alerts on.

Should be shorter way than 5 or 6, but I am adjusted to it. Maybe it will be better in Android 16.

Don’t know which phone, or OS, but assuming that the screen text of the appropriate menu settings should clearly indicate what the sound switching status is set for. Not requiring one to actually hear the sound. Otherwise you could probably toggle the setting, while streaming and take a photo and see in which setting the stream is, and is not interrupted. Just trying to be helpful. Not meaning to frustrate further.
